  • Publication number: 20130296630
Abstract: An oxygen-producing device has a power supply with an electrically positive and an electrically negative output, at least one pair of electrodes, one electrode of the pair coupled to the electrically positive output and the other coupled to the electrically negative output, an oxygen-rich material exposed to the electrodes for producing oxygen in response to a voltage generated across the electrodes, and an envelope containing the power supply, the pair of electrodes and the oxygen rich material. The device operates within a human tumor, the envelope— comprises a gas-permeable membrane for releasing the produced oxygen into an environment outside of the envelope and the power supply is enabled to provide a DC voltage of at least 1.2 volts to the electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20120059301
Abstract: A wound dressing has a reservoir between a not-permeable upper layer, and a lower permeable layer, an adhesion layer facing in the direction of the permeable layer, to be pressed to skin of a patient around a wound, sealing the dressing to the patient, and one or the other of an oxygen-level indicator containing a material exhibiting color change with varying concentration of oxygen, the indicator placed to be visible to a person viewing the dressing through an interface not permeable to oxygen, and to be open to oxygen through a second interface in intimate contact with oxygen in the reservoir, or a self-sealing opening through which a hollow tube may pass without allowing oxygen to escape, the self-sealing opening useful for charging the reservoir with oxygen at pressure, or for sampling oxygen in the reservoir by an external probe.

  • Patent number: 8075537
Abstract: A diffusing device for treating tissue has multiple cells arranged in a cell layer, the cells filled with or charged with a therapeutic agent, an occlusive layer in direct communication with the cell layer, and a diffusion layer in direct communication with the cell layer. In use the diffusing device is sealed peripherally about an area of tissue and therapeutic agent is released from the cells through the diffusion layer based on the diffusion properties of the diffusion layer.

  • Publication number: 20110282259
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a diffusion dressing includes automated steps for pre-forming and precutting a first occlusive layer and precutting a permeable layer of material to a finished size, coating one side of the permeable layer with a permeable adhesive, placing precut sections of a cellular material layer onto the adhesive side of the permeable layer, sealing the first occlusive layer to the permeable layer, precutting a section of absorbent material to a finished size, coating the remaining side of the permeable layer with a permeable adhesive, placing the section of absorbent material on the coated side of the permeable layer, applying a seal about the periphery of the remaining side of the absorbent material, pre-forming and precutting an adhesion layer to a finished size, precutting a removable second occlusive layer of material to a finished size, and sealing the second occlusive layer against the adhesion layer.

  • Publication number: 20110257610
Abstract: A therapeutic dressing has a permeable bottom layer, a non-permeable upper layer sealed about the periphery to the permeable layer to form at least one reservoir, an absorbent patch integrated with the permeable layer, a hermetic seal attached to the underside of the permeable layer and a filling interface in communication with the reservoir. The dressing is filled with a therapeutic agent and wherein such agent is subsequently diffused through the permeable layer onto the skin of a patient.
