  • Publication number: 20140128681
Abstract: An intubation guide assembly includes a laryngoscope having a handle and a blade. The blade has a first portion engaged with the handle, and a second portion configured for insertion into the oral cavity of a patient. The handle and blade are configured for slidably receiving a guide member. The guide member is dimensioned such that a proximal portion is extendable beyond the handle for manipulation by an operator, and a distal portion is extendable into the trachea of the patient when the blade is inserted into the oral cavity. Upon withdrawal of the laryngoscope, a tubular airway member may be advanced over the guide member such that the distal end of the airway member extends into the trachea to provide ventilation to the patient.
