  • Patent number: 12175083
Abstract: Techniques for supporting a native pipeline element abstract for use in processing and storing data objects in a storage environment. The techniques include providing a data object processing pipeline for execution on a storage system, ingesting, by the data object processing pipeline, data objects collected by a plurality of computerized devices coupled to the storage system, performing queuing and processing of the data objects at a series of processing elements of the data object processing pipeline, and providing the processed data objects from the storage system to a host computer for subsequent use or analysis. In this way, the number of storage requests needed to be handled by the storage system can be reduced. Moreover, because the data object processing pipeline can be implemented and executed on the storage system, the processing and storage of data objects in the storage environment can be performed more efficiently and optimized more easily.

  • Patent number: 12073081
Abstract: Non-volatile data storage of a data storage system is organized into multiple RAID extents. Each RAID extent contains multiple logically contiguous RAID stripes. In response to detecting a failed drive in the data storage system, an initial rebuilding pass is performed on each one of the RAID extents. The initial rebuilding pass recovers data that was previously stored on the failed drive and was located within high priority RAID stripes in the RAID extent. After the initial rebuilding pass is completed on all of the RAID extents, at least one subsequent rebuilding pass is performed on each one of the RAID extents. The subsequent rebuilding pass recovers data that was previously stored on the failed drive and was located within RAID stripes in the RAID extent that are not high priority.

  • Patent number: 11513731
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computing system for selecting target volumes within a storage system that are currently accessible to computing devices via first storage protocol paths via a first storage protocol for accessing via second storage protocol paths via a second storage protocol. For each of the selected target volumes, a first storage protocol identifier specific to each selected target volume may be associated with a second storage protocol identifier specific to each selected target volume. The first storage protocol paths and the second storage protocol paths may be grouped into a multipath group based upon the association between the first storage protocol identifier and the second storage protocol identifier. Access between the computing devices and the selected target volumes may be switched from the first storage protocol paths to the second storage protocol paths without application disruption and across multiple host platforms, including host-clusters.

  • Patent number: 10740019
Abstract: Techniques are presented for implementing non-host-based migration in a manner that is not subject to certain types of data corruption. This may be accomplished by preventing any hosts from having write access to a target LUN until it can be confirmed that all applications that access a source LUN have been shut down. This arrangement prevents accidentally writing to the target LUN while the source LUN is still being accessed. As a further precaution, just in case the confirmations are incorrect, a target data storage system can direct a source data storage system to remove access to the source LUN from all of the hosts, which has a similar effect. The migration can then proceed.
