    Abstract: This application discloses sensors to capture audio measurement in an environment around a vehicle and a computing system to classify audio measurements captured with one or more sensors mounted to a vehicle, wherein the classified audio measurements identify to a type of object in an environment around the vehicle, and fuse the classified audio measurements with measurements captured by at least one different type of sensor to detect the object in the environment around the vehicle, wherein a control system for the vehicle is configured to control operation of the vehicle based, at least in part, on the detected object.     Abstract: A navigation system provides a position of the vehicle on a segment of a roadway and identifies a change in speed limit relative to the current segment of the roadway. A traffic sign recognition system determines a speed limit information presentation zone of the current segment of the roadway after determining that a speed limit of the approaching segment of the roadway is lower than a speed limit of the current segment of the roadway and/or a current speed of the vehicle. Thereafter, the traffic sign recognition system assesses the position of the vehicle relative to the speed limit information presentation zone. In response to determining that the vehicle is within the speed limit information presentation location, the traffic sign recognition system displays a visual representation of a speed limit sign designating the speed limit of the approaching segment of the roadway.

    Abstract: A method for operating an automatic speed control system of an automotive vehicle. Initially, in a normal follow mode, a setpoint distance between the vehicle and a preceding vehicle is set to a first value d1, and a setpoint vehicle acceleration is into a first value a1. Upon detection of an intention of the vehicle driver to overtake the preceding vehicle (such as switching on a turn indicator), the setpoint distance is reset to a second value d2 that is smaller than d1. The setpoint acceleration may be reset to a second value a2 greater than a1 simultaneously, or the second value a2 may be set upon detection of initiation of a lane change into an overtaking lane (such as turning a steering wheel). The method assists the driver during the execution of an overtaking process, and a safer, more comfortable and free-flowing sequence of the overtaking process is ensured.

Determination of the acceleration limit value is based upon a plurality of signals including an anti-lock braking system (ABS) signal and a brake pedal position signal. The control device is operable in one of three levels depending upon a detected quality of the signals.
