  • Patent number: 7289811
Abstract: A method and system for estimating the number of transceivers in a service area (100) are disclosed. A calibration area (102) is selected from the service area, and a defined number of transceivers are placed in the calibration area. Input parameters are determined for the defined number of transceivers, which are refined so as to ensure that the input parameters satisfy a customer-specified requirement. The measured input parameters for the refined number of transceivers are used to calibrate a Radio Frequency (RF) coverage prediction tool for the calibration area. The calibrated RF coverage prediction tool is further used to estimate the number of transceivers in the service area.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 26, 2005
Date of Patent: October 30, 2007
    Assignee: Motorola, Inc.
Inventors: Samir A. Sawaya, Amir Bigloo, Weinan Zhang, Steve Swallow

  • Patent number: 6873612
Abstract: A CDMA mobile communication system is operated asynchronously while using common forward channel PN and Walsh codes. Such operation is enabled by devices in the system that provide measurements of the instantaneous offsets between PN codes of neighboring base stations. Knowledge of instantaneous offsets may be maintained and used to identify base station signals to enable handovers to neighboring base stations. Instantaneous offsets may also be processed over time to identify states of imminent collision so that corrective action can be taken to avoid or minimize collision effects.

  • Patent number: 6373831
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for transmitting data over a multi-channel CDMA system are disclosed in accordance with the teachings of the present invention wherein the system includes an encoder for encoding a data stream with error correction, an interleaver for interleaving the data stream, a multiplexor for multiplexing a plurality of power control symbols onto the data stream, and an inverse-multiplexor for inverse-multiplexing the data stream onto multiple different communication channels. The system may also include additional error correction encoding and interleaving steps.
