Abstract: The disclosure provides a wireless device for use in a wireless network, systems and methods for identifying radar signals and for giving the wireless network a radar-avoidance capability. In one embodiment, the wireless device includes: (1) a pulse analyzer configured to make a determination whether a received pulse is a radar pulse and not a wireless network pulse and (2) a pulse reporter coupled to the pulse analyzer and configured to generate, if the determination is positive, a report thereof for transmission over the wireless network to a central aggregation node thereof.

A portion of a received remote control code is compared with corresponding portions of stored remote control codes. The received remote control code can be filtered based on the comparison. The filtering can comprise outputting the received remote control code or a portion thereof, discarding the received remote control code, or adding a new remote control code to the stored remote control codes. The remote control code can be received from a network or from a hardware interface (e.g., which converts an electromagnetic remote control signal to the remote control code). The received remote control code can be output to a network or to a hardware interface for subsequent transmission of an electromagnetic remote control signal. Filtering can occur before or after the network.

An alternate channel is selected by obtaining information about a plurality of available channels; assigning a score to each available channel; and selecting an alternate channel from the available channels based on the assigned score. The state of the selected alternate channel and the current channel are compared. A change to the selected alternate channel is initiated when one or more predefined criteria are satisfied.
