Abstract: Provided are methods of inhibiting microbial fouling and improving efficiency in biocide dosing in an industrial process containing an aqueous liquid having a biocide demand. In exemplary embodiments, the methods comprise treating an aqueous liquid having a biocide demand with a biocide, monitoring the biocide demand of the aqueous liquid, and filtering a stream of the aqueous liquid. The filtering may be performed in a full-flow or side stream manner.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is proposed for providing a personalized customer service from a physical provider of goods or services. The method comprises: automatically recognizing when a customer enters a physical provider of goods or services through use of an electronic signature; obtaining data on the recognized customer, the data comprising the customer's historical purchasing data; and informing provider staff of one or more of: the customer data, deals, discounts, recommendations or rewards to offer the customer based on the historical purchasing data, such that the staff can provide a personalized service to the customer based on the data provided.

Abstract: A mobile wireless device which operates in a wireless network is capable of: displaying a request for a user specified subscriber identification code on a GUI, receiving a single entry of the user specified subscriber identification code from the GUI, appending a code specifying a request for a type of activation and a request for data representing customer specific services to the subscriber identification code to form an activation code, transmitting the activation code to a control center wherein the transmission of the activation code results from the single entry of the user specified subscriber identification code into the GUI, receiving data representing customer specific services from the control center in response to the transmission of the activation code, and storing the received data representing the customer specific services in the memory.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a switch. The switch includes a packet processor and a spanning tree management module. The packet processor obtains information associated with a spanning tree from a message. The spanning tree management module, in response to the obtained information being superior to locally available information of the spanning tree, determines the port role of a local port of the switch for the spanning tree to be the root port and the port state of the local port for the spanning tree to be blocking.

Abstract: A method is proposed for ranking merchants satisfying one or more selected criteria. The merchants are ranked according to an algorithm which calculates a respective score for each merchant as a function of (i) one or more transactional data values characterising previous commercial transactions involving the merchants, (ii) one or more rating values obtained from one of more social media sources and characterising properties of the merchants according to customer feedback, and (iii) pre-determined parameters which control the relative importance of the transactional data values and rating values in determining the scores.

Abstract: Architecture for enabling the definition of candidates of a collaboration session, and the manner or modality of communication that identifies collaboration opportunities, including meeting time, place, and modalities, for example. The modality of communication can include an online meeting, a telephone conference call, or a face-to-face meeting. Meta information of the candidates is aggregated from multiple sources to identify collaboration opportunities and compute an opportunity window for the collaboration session. The meta information can include online presence, availability information, a calendar schedule, geographic location, time zone, expertise, and profile related information. Candidates for the collaboration session can be tagged based on common interest, team membership, or project information. In this way, a predictive model for availability is built for the collaboration session candidates. The candidates are notified of the opportunity window for scheduling of the collaboration session.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for automatically determining a location-based network connection policy by a mobile device, where the location-based network connection policy can be determined from information provided by a server. In use, a network connection policy for a network-enabled mobile device of a user is stored by the mobile device. Additionally, an identifier specific to a location of the mobile device is identified. An updated network connection policy is then automatically determined by the mobile device, using the identifier, for example via information sent to the mobile device by a server based on the identifier. Further, the updated network connection policy is implemented by the mobile device for controlling a network connection of the mobile device.

Abstract: A cellular network system comprises a device identifier comparator and a connection enable indicator. A device identifier comparator for comparing a received device identifier with one of a plurality of stored device identifiers, wherein the one of the stored plurality of stored device identifiers is associated with a stored subscriber identifier. Abstract: A method to determine the duration of time an email is opened for on a recipient's computer or mobile electronic device. The purpose of the present invention is to capture this timing information by modifying existing pixel tracking technology in a novel way by not actually sending back the pixel to the REC. Rather the RTS will hold open the pixel image request but not actually send any image data back. The key method step is to have the RTS do the opposite of what the REC is requesting in the HTTP application layer request by not sending any image data. While the request is held open at the HTTP layer, the RTS is giving the REC an opportunity to send a signal via the network TCP/IP layer of when the email is no longer open.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for providing software administration tools, for use in administering server configurations, such as in a traffic director or other type of server environment.
