Abstract: Processes are provided that yield high molecular weight collagen without enzymatic or chemical treatment, preserving triple helical content of native collagen. Processing conditions and energy input on animal tissue supply streams can be controlled to obtain collagen compositions with desirable yields and properties, including ratios of denatured and nondenatured collagen with reduced processing time and higher mass throughput.

Abstract: Methods, formulations and production systems are provided. Methods comprise extracting black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) oil by processing BSFL, modifying the BSFL oil into modified BSFL (MBSFL) oil by converting triglycerides in the BSFL oil to medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) in the form of monoglycerides, fatty acid salts and/or free fatty acids, e.g., by saponification and/or hydrolysis, and applying the MBSFL oil to suppress biofilm development and/or microorganism growth (e.g., of Gram-positive and/or Gram-negative bacteria, fungi and possibly viruses). Applications of the MBSFL oil include dermal and/or oral applications, topical therapy, as well as applications to medical equipment and industrial applications.

Abstract: A harvesting system for harvesting aquatic plants in or floating on a culture medium a harvesting bed configured to be circulated in and out of the culture medium. An actuator circulates the harvesting bed, a scraper positioned against a surface of the harvesting bed scraps the aquatic plants on the harvesting bed and a channel transports the aquatic plants removed by the scraper toward a collection vat. The collection vat receives the aquatic plants transported via the channel.
