Patent number: 9424611Abstract: A method for managing user-generated questions and answers across multiple social media data sources can begin with the receiving of query parameters, including a user-entered question, via the user interface of a social media Q&A manage. Social media data sources can be queried for knowledge related to the user-entered question. When knowledge related to the user-entered question exists, the existing related knowledge can be organized and presented in the user interface according to a determined answer quality. When knowledge related to the user-entered question does not exist or is deemed unsatisfactory by a user, the user-entered question can be automatically submitted to applicable social media data sources by the social media Q&A manager on behalf of the user. A status of the submitted user-entered question can be monitored. When the status of the submitted user-entered question changes, the method can be re-executed at the querying step.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2012Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Rose Catherine Kanjirathinkal, Srujana Merugu, Amit K. Publication number: 20140129462Abstract: A method, system and computer program product are disclosed for candidate screening. In one embodiment, the method comprises identifying a multitude of dimensions of a specified job, assigning a weight to each of the dimensions, and determining whether each of a group of candidate satisfies the weights assigned to the dimensions. In an embodiment, a score is assigned to each candidate based on the weights assigned to the dimensions, and the number of the candidates score above a threshold is determined. In an embodiment, if the number of the candidates that have a score above the threshold is less than a defined number, one or more of the weights is adjusted, and the candidates are rescored based on these adjusted weights. In embodiments of the invention, the weights are adjusted based on the number of the candidates that score above the threshold, or based on the other weights.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2012Publication date: May 8, 2014Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Sameep Mehta, Rakesh R. Patent number: 8548835Abstract: A CO2e modeling system is implemented via a host server that is remotely accessible by a large number of clients (organizations) and suppliers of goods and services to the clients. The host server accesses a database containing CO2e emission-related data from a large number of suppliers. The client, when determining their indirect CO2e emissions resulting from their supply chain network, then identifies to the host server, via the web, the various suppliers used by the client and the client's amount of usage of the various suppliers. The host server uses its stored conversion factors and other data from the database to calculate the client's indirect CO2e emissions as a result of the client's usage of the particular suppliers. The server may calculate the total CO2e emissions generated by the entire chain of suppliers that are involved with providing a particular product to the client.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2010Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Hara Software, Inc.Inventors: Amit K.
