  • Publication number: 20210022114
Abstract: A relay node receives a data block containing multiplexed data streams intended for multiple user equipment (UE) devices being served by the relay node. The relay node extracts the data streams from the data block and allocates them each to a separate narrowband channel that is associated with a particular UE device. The relay node repeatedly transmits the narrowband channels to the UE devices in a broadcast transmission that is transmitted for a predetermined number of repetitions. Each UE device decodes their own respective narrowband channel to obtain the data stream intended for the UE device associated with a particular narrowband channel. A feedback mechanism is utilized by the relay node to determine whether to retransmit a data packet or a new data packet in subsequent broadcast transmissions.

  • Publication number: 20210014829
Abstract: A donor communication station transmits a unicast transmission comprising a plurality of device data sets where each device data set directed to each of a plurality of user equipment (UE) devices. A relay node receives the unicast transmission and retransmits the data sets in a broadcast transmission over a broadcast communication channel to the plurality of UE devices. In one example, the donor communication station encodes data for multiple user equipment (UE) devices by applying broadcast encoding to the data for each device before applying outer encoding to the data. The dual encoded data is transmitted to the relay node over a dedicated channel. The relay node applies outer decoding to the dual encoded data to retrieve the broadcast encoded data. The relay node then transmits the broadcast encoded device data in a broadcast transmission without outer encoding.

  • Publication number: 20200383123
Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) D2D device transmits a coverage transition indicator when the UE device leaves a service area of base station and is no longer in coverage. The coverage transition indicator at least indicates that the UE device has left the service area and is no longer in coverage. Based on the coverage transition indicator, a determination can be made as to whether the D2D group to which the UE device belongs has transitioned to an out of coverage scenario from a partial coverage scenario.

  • Publication number: 20200374889
Abstract: A neighbonng cell determines that uplink interference from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) exceeds a first threshold at the neighboring cell. The neighboring cell transmits an uplink interference indicator to the UAV. In some examples, the UAV informs its serving cell of the uplink interference experienced by the neighboring cell. The serving cell can utilize information received from the UAV to make handover decisions or scheduling decisions for the UAV that caused the uplink interference. In other examples, the UAV can temporarily refrain from transmitting on at least some of its uplink resources or utilize different uplink resources for uplink data transmissions. In still other examples, the UAV can utilize downlink measurements to select which neighboring base station System Information Block messages should be monitored for an uplink interference indicator.

  • Patent number: 10804999
Abstract: A signal forwarding device receives a dual-encoded first set of data that is encoded according to first and second sets of encoding parameters. The signal forwarding device decodes the dual-encoded first set of data, using decoding parameters that correspond to the second set of encoding parameters, to generate a single-encoded first set of data that is encoded according to the first set of encoding parameters. The signal forwarding device transmits the single-encoded first set of data to the destination device, which decodes the single-encoded first set of data using decoding parameters that correspond to the first set of encoding parameters. If the decoding is unsuccessful, the destination device requests retransmission. The signal forwarding device decodes a stored copy of the single encoded first set of data, using decoding parameters that correspond to the first set of encoding parameters, and retransmits the first set of data to the destination device.

  • Publication number: 20200288407
Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) user equipment (UE) device determines uplink transmission power based on a reduced power factor in response to receiving an interference indicator from a neighboring base station. The reduced power factor results in an uplink transmission power for an uplink signal that is less than the uplink transmission power based on a standard power factor.

  • Publication number: 20200275460
Abstract: Communication equipment communicates in a licensed frequency band using a licensed band physical channel structure (licensed structure) and communicates in an unlicensed frequency communication band using an unlicensed band physical channel structure (unlicensed structure) where the unlicensed structure includes at least the same symbol times and subcarrier frequency divisions as in the licensed structure. The symbol times and subcarriers form a plurality of time-frequency communication resource elements. A set of symbol times and subcarrier frequency divisions form a licensed reference subset of communication resource elements that are allocated for reference signal transmission in the licensed structure. • Publication number: 20200236660
Abstract: A base station transmits a signal including mobile broadband (MBB) communication resources that contains mobile broadband (MBB) data for an MBB user equipment (UE) device and narrowband (NB) data for an NB UE device where the two devices are in the same geographical location. The time-frequency and spatial communication resources of the MBB communication resources are identified in control information directed to each device. The control information is transmitted to the MBB device over a MBB physical downlink control channel defined by a communication specification to have a first number of subcarriers. The control information is transmitted to the MBB device over a narrowband physical downlink control channel defined by the communication specification to have a second number of subcarriers less than the first number of subcarriers.

  • Patent number: 10721748
Abstract: A transmitting user equipment (UE) device transmits scheduling assignment information within a scheduling assignment region of a physical channel structure where the physical channel structure is defined by at least one revision of a communication specification governing communication within a licensed frequency band. The scheduling assignment information identifies time-frequency communication resources of an unlicensed frequency band. The transmitting UE device transmits data to a receiving UE device using the time-frequency communication resources of the unlicensed frequency band.

  • Publication number: 20200178243
Abstract: A serving base station allocates communication resources to be used by an aerial vehicle user equipment device (AV-UE) for uplink data transmissions. A neighboring base station is informed, via an air interface, of the communication resources that were allocated to the AV-UE. In some examples, the AV-UE retransmits scheduling assignment information, received from the serving base station, to the neighboring base station. In still other examples, the AV-UE transmits a sounding reference signal (SRS) to the neighboring base station. The neighboring base station can decode the retransmitted scheduling assignment information and/or the SRS to obtain information regarding the communication resources that have been allocated to the AV-UE for uplink data transmissions. The neighboring base station mitigates interference from the uplink data transmissions sent by the AV-UE.

  • Patent number: 10630430
Abstract: An origination device (e.g., a base station) encodes first and second data packets according to a first set of encoding parameters corresponding to channel conditions associated with a first communication link between a signal forwarding device and a destination device. The resulting first and second single-encoded data packets contain the same data. The origination device combines the first and second single-encoded data packets to generate a single-encoded data block. The origination device encodes the single-encoded data block, according to a second set of encoding parameters corresponding to channel conditions associated with a second communication link between the origination device and the signal forwarding device, to generate a dual-encoded data block. The dual-encoded data block is transmitted to the signal forwarding device.
