  • Patent number: 9231837
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for analyzing, collecting, and presenting data in a communication network are disclosed. An example method includes analyzing collected data to generate gateway metrics representative of a user experience of a user-initiated communication within a network, the network comprising network elements, the gateway metrics comprising at least one of a number of termination attempts for a DS0 channel, a number of rejected attempts for the DS0 channel, a number of terminations answered for the DS0 channel, a number of attempts for a hunt group, a number of rejected attempts for the hunt group, or a number of terminations answered for the hunt group; determining an average upper transaction time per customer based on the collected data; and presenting the gateway metrics in a plurality of tabular views corresponding to service area levels, the views presenting performance data representing the average upper transaction times of the service area levels.

  • Patent number: 8438264
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for monitoring a communication network are disclosed. A disclosed method of monitoring a communication network periodically collects data from a plurality of network elements within the communication network. The disclosed method analyzes the collected data in accordance with a rule that corresponds to a characteristic of performance or capacity of the plurality of network elements to form performance or capacity data representative of a user experience of the communication network. The disclosed method then presents the performance or capacity data via a web browser using a plurality of view levels and types.

  • Patent number: 7551635
Abstract: A synchronous optical network (SONET) system having multi-hierarchal network service access point (NSAP) addressing includes electrically linked network elements (NEs) and first and second level routing areas which each include at least one NE. The NEs include devices having respective NSAP addresses and at least one of the NEs is a network controller that controls the SONET. The first level routing area and the second level routing areas are based on a predetermined prioritization of the NEs as first level NEs and second level NEs, and have a first level routing and having a second level routing for the NSAP addresses, respectively. Each NSAP address includes a Routing Domain field and an Area field filled with information indicative of a respective Internet Protocol (IP) address.

  • Publication number: 20050175117
Abstract: The application discloses a system and a method of selecting a profile of a digital subscriber line. In a particular embodiment, the method includes determining a number of code violations of the digital subscriber line; determining a first estimated data packet throughput value associated with a first profile based on the number of code violations; determining a second estimated data packet throughput value associated with a second profile based on the number of code violations; and selecting a profile to be applied to the digital subscriber line based on a comparison of the first estimated data packet throughput value and the second estimated data packet throughput value.
