  • Publication number: 20130336297
Abstract: Incorporating and operating a mesh base station in a wireless network is described. The mesh base station can utilize common wireless resource allocations as a corresponding wireless base station while transmitting to wireless subscriber stations during the same time period. The mesh base station obtains a data packet from the wireless base station over a backhaul link during a scheduled time period and transmits the data packet to the designated wireless subscriber station during another scheduled time period. The wireless base station and the mesh base station can also receive data packets from wireless subscriber stations during a same time period. A wireless network can be configured with two mesh base stations at an approximate boundary of two adjacent sector coverage areas, where a coverage area is supported by a wireless base station and each mesh base station supports wireless subscriber stations within a coverage radius.

  • Patent number: 8610606
Abstract: A system and method of selecting a predefined Huffman dictionary from a bank of dictionaries. The dictionary selection mechanism of the present invention effectively breaks the built-in tradeoff between compression ratio and compression rate for both hardware and software compression implementations. A mechanism is provided for automatically creating a predefined Huffman dictionary for a set of input files. The dictionary selection mechanism achieves high compression rate and ratio leveraging predefined Huffman dictionaries and provides a mechanism for dynamically speculating which predefined dictionary to select per input data block, thereby achieving close to a dynamic Huffman ratio at a static Huffman rate. In addition, a feedback loop is used to monitor the ongoing performance of the preset currently selected for use by the hardware accelerator. If the current preset is not optimal it is replaced with an optimal preset.

  • Patent number: 8612455
Abstract: A method for retrieving Internet posts, implementable on a computing device, includes analyzing Internet posts to define segments in the Internet posts, where the segments at least contain terms consistent with user generation of a personal experience event report associated with a pre-defined search subject, and scoring each of the segments, where the score indicates a likelihood that the Internet post associated with the segment represents a user generated the personal experience report associated with the pre-defined search subject. A method for detecting personal experience event reports from user generated content on the Internet includes filtering a collection of Internet posts to include only Internet posts containing personal experience terms, and further filtering the filtered Internet posts by removing the Internet posts with non-personal experience terms.

  • Patent number: 8612649
Abstract: A method for validating outsourced processing of a priority queue includes configuring a verifier for independent, single-pass processing of priority queue operations that include insertion operations and extraction operations and priorities associated with each operation. The verifier may be configured to validate N operations using a memory space having a size that is proportional to the square root of N using an algorithm to buffer the operations as a series of R epochs. Extractions associated with each individual epoch may be monitored using arrays Y and Z. Insertions for the epoch k may monitored using arrays X and Z. The processing of the priority queue operations may be verified based on the equality or inequality of the arrays X, Y, and Z. Hashed values for the arrays may be used to test their equality to conserve storage requirements.

  • Patent number: 8612993
Abstract: Computing devices, computer-readable media, and methods are provided for generating and persisting a user identity associated with a client in a client-server network. A request for an identity script, the identity script comprising computer-executable instructions for creating one or more cookies, is sent from a client to a server. A dynamically generated identity script is returned to the client. User identities are persisted by utilizing cache validation to determine whether a new identity script should be generated.

  • Publication number: 20130332355
Abstract: The interactive authentication system allows a consumer to interact with a base station, such as broadcast media (e.g., television and radio) or PC, to receive coupons, special sales offers, and other information with an electronic card. The electronic card can also be used to transmit a signal that can be received by the base station to perform a wide variety of tasks. These tasks can include launching an application, authenticating a user at a website, and completing a sales transaction at a website (e.g., by filling out a form automatically). The interaction between the base station and the electronic card is accomplished by using the conventional sound system in the base station so that a special reader hardware need not be installed to interact with the electronic card. The user is equipped with an electronic card that can receive and transmit data via sound waves. In the various embodiments, the sound waves can be audible or ultrasonic (which can be slightly audible to some groups of people).

  • Publication number: 20130332773
Abstract: A generalized pattern recognition is used to identify faults in machine condition monitoring. Pattern clusters are identified in operating data. A classifier is trained using the pattern clusters in addition to annotated training data. The operating data is also used to cluster the signals in the operating data into signal clusters. Monitored data samples are then classified by evaluating confidence vectors that include substitutions of signals contained in the training data by signals in the same signal clusters as the signals contained in the training data.
