  • Patent number: 8588696
Abstract: A method of mitigating interference in a mobile wireless communication device by adaptively adjusting transmit power levels of a wireless cellular transceiver. A receive signal quality for a wireless non-cellular transceiver that includes interference from signals transmitted by the wireless cellular transceiver is estimated. The wireless non-cellular and wireless cellular transceivers are co-located in the mobile wireless communication device, and both transceivers are active. An actual transmit power of the wireless cellular transceiver is adjusted based on the estimated receive signal quality to a level less than a requested transmit power. The estimation of the receive signal quality and the adjusting of the actual transmit power is periodically repeated. The estimation accounts for operational properties of the wireless cellular and non-cellular transceivers as well as operational characteristics of wireless connections through the transceivers.

  • Patent number: 8589138
Abstract: A system and method to analyze analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital circuits. The system and method displays to a user characteristic values of a circuit and statistical uncertainty values of the characteristic values early in a sampling or characterization run of the circuit. The characteristic values and their statistical uncertainties are updated as the sampling or characterization run progresses. The user can halt the sampling or characterization run once a desired level of uncertainty is attained. The system can automatically halt the sampling or characterization run, once the statistical uncertainty lie within a pre-determined range.

  • Patent number: 8588884
Abstract: In certain variations, methods, systems and/or devices for enhancing conductivity of an electrical signal through a subject's skin using one or more microneedle electrodes are provided. A microneedle electrode may be applied to the subject's skin by placing the microneedle electrode in direct contact with the subject's skin. The microneedles of the microneedle electrode may be inserted into the skin such that the microneedles pierce stratum corneum of the skin up to or through dermis of the skin. An electrical signal passes or is conducted through or across the microneedle electrode and the subject's skin, where impedance of the microneedle electrode is minimal and greatly reduced compared to existing technologies.

  • Patent number: 8589357
Abstract: A technique for making versions of rows of a user-defined tracked table temporally queryable. The database management system of the technique permits temporal queries of user-defined tables. The queries return versions of rows in the user-defined table that are currently in an undo log maintained by the database system. Associated with the tracked table are a system history table which contains versions of the rows and temporal metadata indicating when the versions were in the tracked table and a system form history table which contains versions of the form of the tracked table and metadata indicating when the tracked table had the form. These tables are created and maintained by a background process in the database management system. A temporal query on the tracked table combines results from the undo log with results from the system history table. The results' form is determined by the system form history table.

  • Publication number: 20130304589
Abstract: Transaction data of consumers is stored in a data store. Offer entries of merchants are received from a plurality of merchant computer systems and stored in the data store in association with respective merchant accounts. At least a representation of the transaction data is transmitted to the merchant computer system. A bid is received from each of the merchant computer system for the transaction data. The bids are compared and an activation level of one or more of the offer entries is set based on the comparison of the bids. The offer entry is transmitted to a consumer device based. The transmission of the offer entry is dependent on the activation level of the offer entry.

  • Publication number: 20130304718
Abstract: An application (“app”) may be associated with a web site, so that an online service may use the connection between the app and the web site. In one example, the online service is an information provider, such as a search engine or advertising engine. The online service provides a web administrator portal, through which a webmaster provides or generates a secret code. The webmaster gives the secret code to an app developer, who gives the code to an app store when the app is published. If the service provides information about the web site (e.g., as a search result or ad impression), the service may also provide an indication of the app, since the use of the code represents confirmation by both the webmaster and app developer that a relationship exists between the web site and the app.

  • Publication number: 20130299899
Abstract: The present inventors have realized that manufacturability plays into optimization of power semiconductor devices in some surprising new ways. If the process window is too narrow, the maximum breakdown voltage will not be achieved due to doping variations and the like normally seen in device fabrication. Thus, among other teachings, the present application describes some ways to improve the process margin, for a given breakdown voltage specification, by actually reducing the maximum breakdown voltage. In one class of embodiments, this is done by introducing a vertical gradation in the density of fixed electrostatic charge, or in the background doping of the drift region, or both. Several techniques are disclosed for achieving this.

  • Publication number: 20130303081
Abstract: A common group cell identifier is transmitted by adjacent base stations. Handover processing is minimized for mobile relays traveling along a predetermined path that traverses the adjacent base stations. A first base station along the path transmits a group cell identifier and a first single cell identifier within a first service area. An adjacent base station transmits the group cell identifier and a second single cell identifier within a second service area that at least partially overlaps the first service area. The mobile relay monitors the group cell identifier in certain situations and only performs a handover when the group cell identifier changes. As a result, no handovers are initiated as the mobile relay travels down the path since the group cell identifier transmitted by the base stations along the path are the same.
