Patent number: 10350984Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention is a tandem starter-generator construction that includes an induction motor-generator, a permanent magnet motor-generator and power transmission unit disposed adjacent to the motor-generators. The induction motor-generator is utilized predominantly as a motor to provide mechanical power at relatively high efficiency as a motor, and as a generator to provide electrical power during regenerative braking. The permanent magnet motor-generator is used predominantly as a generator for very high efficiency power conversion and to capture additional electrical power during regenerative braking to compensate for the regenerative energy captured at lower efficiency by the induction motor-generator.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2017Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignee: ALTIGREEN PROPULSION LABS PRIVATE LIMITEDInventors: John F. Patent number: 10205372Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention is a shaft construction for motor-generators and alternators that provides effective airflow and improved overall cooling without the need for an external fan. The shaft comprises a plurality of circumferentially disposed centrifugal fan blades and longitudinal cooling channels. As the shaft rotates, the centrifugal fan blades pull the air inwardly across the winding end-turns on one end of the stator into the housing and propels the air at high pressure through the cooling channels along the shaft to cool the rotor inner circumferential surfaces, winding end-turns on the other end of the stator and bearings mounting surfaces, and exhausts through the exhaust vents on the ends of the housing. The airflow path provides effective cooling of the stator windings, rotor, shaft and bearings that prevents high temperature gradients, thus resulting in improved motor-generator performance.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2014Date of Patent: February 12, 2019Assignee: ALTIGREEN PROPULSION LABS PRIVATE LIMITEDInventors: John Bangura, Lasse Moklegaard, Amitabh Saran

Patent number: 10150464Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention is a dual-structured power output apparatus of an electric drive and power system that provides a means for outputting both mechanical power and electrical power. It comprises dual motor/generators having two stator assemblies, two rotor assemblies and a power transmission unit all integrated into a single housing for easy mounting. The power transmission unit is disposed adjacent to the two motor/generators and coupled on both ends to rotating shafts mechanically linked to the rotor assemblies such that they are rotatable relative to each other. It function is to change the rotational speed and torque of at least one of the rotors in order to reduce weight and physical size of the apparatus, and thus significantly improving the power density and capability. The structure of the apparatus is well-suited to improve the performance and fuel efficiency of the prior art hybrid powertrain.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2017Date of Patent: December 11, 2018Assignee: Altigreen Propulsion Labs Private LimitedInventors: John F. Publication number: 20030055668Abstract: The present invention relates to a workflow and workflow engine. A workflow in accordance with the present invention is a process that gets triggered in response to a predetermined event in a relationship management system. The event could be anything input into the system, such as an incoming interaction like a phone call, a fax, an e-mail, or a web-form submission. In addition an event could be a business events such as an overdue task, an inventory update, a merchandise sale, or an equipment order. A workflow is preferably characterized in terms of a set of steps the workflow is to perform, such as creating or modifying a business object, creating and sending an email or fax, making a decision based on a query, scheduling a timed event, and so on.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2002Publication date: March 20, 2003Inventors: Amitabh Saran, Sanjay Suri, Purushottaman Balakrishnan, Shashidhar Kamath

Publication number: 20030037263Abstract: The invention provides a dynamic rules-based secure data access system that may be used in a variety of applications that include a requirement for controlled secure access to a database. The rules-based access system has several features. One of these is that each user be assigned a role, either as an individual or as part of the group. Access rights may be assigned based on roles, but these can be modified within the system by individual users, that have authority to do so. Further, the data resources that each user is allowed to access, based on his or her role, and the extent of viewing and of data manipulation allowed, is further controlled based on assigned “rights and privileges”.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2002Publication date: February 20, 2003Applicant: TriVium Systems Inc.Inventors: Nishad Kamat, Svn Vishwanathan, Bangalore S. Patent number: 4376933Abstract: A circuit for compacting variable length data words into a fixed word length format is disclosed. Each variable length data word and its associated leading 0's are separated by a delimiter bit and stored in memory. When the memory is accessed, the output word is loaded in parallel into a first shift register and shifted to strip the leading 0's and delimiter bit. The remaining data bits are then shifted serially into a second shift register. When the second shift register is full, the resultant fixed length data word is latched out. When the first shift register is empty, the next word is loaded in from memory. In this way, a series of variable length words may be compacted into a series of fixed length words. This circuit is useful for compacting variable length Huffman codes since the boundaries between codes are self evident. This circuit can also be used as a character generator, where the variable length data output comprises the bits required to generate a character image on a raster scanned display.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1980Date of Patent: March 15, 1983Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Amitabh Saran, Guillermo F. Patent number: 4334246Abstract: A circuit and method for decompressing video subsequent to its prior compression for transmission or storage. The circuit assumes that the original video generated by a raster input scanner was operated on by a two line one shot predictor, coded using run length encoding into code words of four, eight, or twelve bits and packed into sixteen bit data words. This described decompressor, then, unpacks the data by joining together the sixteen bit data words and then separately the individual code words, converts the code words into a number of all zero four bit nibbles and a terminating nibble containing one or more one bits which constitutes decoded data, inspects the actual video of the preceeding scan line and the previous video bits of the present line to produce depredictor bits and compares the decoded data and depredictor bits to produce the final actual video.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1980Date of Patent: June 8, 1982Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Amitabh Saran

Patent number: 4136363Abstract: A binary video signal having a raster scan format with some scan lines of difference modulated picture elements and other scan lines of unmodulated picture elements is encoded by converting black terminated white runs into block length multiple plus run length residue message codes, non-terminating black picture elements into individual message bits, and unterminated white runs into end-of-line message codes. Different end-of-line message codes are provided for the unterminated white runs of difference modulated and unmodulated picture elements to distinguish between the scan lines of difference modulated and unmodulated picture elements on a scan line-by-scan line basis, but otherwise the encoding is carried out in the same way for both the difference modulated and unmodulated picture elements.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1976Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Amitabh Saran

Patent number: 4092665Abstract: Address codes are serially applied to parallel word-oriented memory banks, such as read-only memories, to read out successive sets of fixed length data words and control words in parallel. The data words contain variable length data, and the control words distinguish between the relevant and irrelevant bits of the data words. A stripper circuit responds to the data words and control words read out of the memory banks by extracting the variable length data from the data words under the control of the control words. One application for this system is in a run length encoder wherein the address codes are generated in response to the runs which are to be encoded, and the data words contain variable length message codes for representing those runs in encoded or compressed form.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1976Date of Patent: May 30, 1978Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Amitabh Saran
