  • Patent number: 6562297
Abstract: A pH sensor for the visual or optical indication of the pH of a sample. The pH sensor includes a hydrophilic, optionally intrinsically charged or neutral, synthetic membrane and at least one pH indicator dye immobilized thereto, so as to prevent appreciated bleeding of the at least one indicator dye from the synthetic membrane upon immersion in an aqueous liquid.

  • Publication number: 20030023188
Abstract: A kit for generating a biological sample from a discharge emitted from a portion of a body includes an absorbent pad for deploying adjacent to the portion of the body and a portable device for preserving and/or pre-processing the sample. The pad includes a sampling membrane configured to retain at least one biological material. The portable device has a housing formed from a base portion and lid portion which together define a sealable sample chamber for receiving the sampling membrane. An injector device is configured to be activated by closing of the lid portion to inject sample extracting solution into the sample chamber.

  • Publication number: 20030017605
Abstract: An indicator system including two pH sensitive indicators and a reagent is disclosed. The indicator system can be integrated into a number of products such as sanitary napkins or panty shields and thus can indicate the presence of amniotic fluid or secretions associated with vaginosis without giving a false positive result upon exposure to urine.

  • Patent number: 6426227
Abstract: A method of analysis of vaginal secretions collected in an absorbent pad is disclosed. The method is effected by implementing the steps of (a) using an absorbent pad for collecting the vaginal secretions, the absorbent pad including an inner membrane for absorbing at least a portion of the secretion, the inner membrane being embedded among layers of the absorbent pad, and an external, viewable membrane including a color indicator for indicating a location of secretions absorbed by the absorbent pad according to at least one parameter being indicative of a pathological state; and (b) if the pathological state is indicated, biochemically analyzing the inner membrane at a location respective to the location of secretions absorbed by the absorbent pad for further characterizing the pathological state.
