  • Patent number: 11812336
Abstract: Techniques for improved GNSS positioning include leveraging approximate location information and information from sensors of a mobile device, and/or sensors communicatively coupled therewith, to detect obstructions and determine which SVs may be blocked from direct view. In particular, information from one or more cameras, LIDAR, radar, and/or other sensor systems can be used to determine how nearby obstructions may block the view of portions of the sky from the perspective of the mobile device, then compared with a SkyPlot of SVs based on the mobile device's approximate location to determine which SVs are likely blocked from view. A GNSS position determination of the mobile device can then be made by reducing the weight of information received from blocked (obstructed) SVs.

  • Patent number: 11546955
Abstract: A UE is configured to: obtain one or more action criteria values and one or more corresponding indications of one or more actions; receive a wireless sidelink signal; determine one or more evaluation characteristic values of one or more evaluation characteristics that include one or more communication characteristics of the wireless sidelink signal; determine a portion of the one or more action criteria values that corresponds to the one or more evaluation characteristic values; and perform the one or more actions corresponding to the portion of the one or more action criteria values, where the one or more actions include providing an indication to the user interface to produce an output, or sending a sidelink response wirelessly via the wireless interface, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 11308719
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for capturing, collecting, and distributing event information displayed on signs. The method may include capturing, by a mobile device, an image of a sign that displays information for an event. The method may also include extracting information for the event from the captured image of the sign, and determining a location of the mobile device when the image of the sign was captured. Furthermore, the method may include uploading, to a server, a time when the image was captured, the information for the event extracted from the captured image, a location of the event determined from extracted event information, a location of the sign, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 10306559
Abstract: Techniques provided herein are directed toward using information from various sources to determine when the mobile device enters and exits a traffic tunnel, turning off the GNSS receiver of the mobile device when the mobile device enters the tunnel, and turning the GNSS receiver back on once it exits. For example, the mobile device can turn off the GNSS receiver based, at least in part, on a determination that the mobile device has entered the traffic tunnel, and a determined traffic tunnel length and/or estimated amount of time the mobile device will be in the traffic tunnel.
