  • Patent number: 5711516
Abstract: The present invention is related to a sheet feeder used with an image scanner for transmitting a sheet object to be scanned through the image scanner which has a sloping plane detachably mounting thereon the image scanner and allowing the sheet object to be transmitted between the image scanner and the sheet feeder along the sloping plane for assisting in monitoring a transmission situation of the sheet object. The present invention utilizes an improvement on a sheet feeder structure to make the sheet feeder more pragmatic.

  • Patent number: 5663813
Abstract: The present invention is related to an image scanning device mounted to a computer case, which includes a scanner housing having a first portion located inside the computer case and a second portion protruding through a surface of the computer case, a scanning passage essentially located in the second portion of the scanner housing for transmitting therethrough an object to be scanned, and an image sensing and processing device installed in the scanner housing for sensing an image of the object during the transmission of the object through the scanning passage and processing the sensed image. The scanning device according to the present invention is mounted to a computer case so that the extra space for resting thereon or moving therearound a sheetfed-type or a handheld-type scanner will not be needed any more. Moreover, the scanning device according to the present invention occupies relatively small space from the host computer, e.g.

  • Patent number: 5663812
Abstract: A reflection-type scanner that can be mounted inside a host computer case of a computer to scan an object to be scanned includes a housing device to be disposed inside the host computer case, an image pick-up device mounted inside the housing device for scanning the object, and a feed-in device constructed inside the housing device to move the object to be scanned by the image pick-up device. The reflection-type scanner of present invention no longer requires a moving space for scanning as in the prior art, but stabilizes the scanning speed and direction, and simplifies the operation in that a user only needs to insert the object to be scanned between the rollers or place it on the tray of the scanner and the scanner takes over the rest of the work. Moreover, the scanner can be integrated into the computer system so that the user need not bother setting up the scanner in the computer and constructing the wires and connectors between the scanner and the conputer, and the cost can be lowered.

  • Patent number: 5550650
Abstract: The present invention provides a double function-mode scanner. It includes a scanner body scanning a content of an article to be scanned, and a feeder connected to the scanner body to have the article transmitted through a passage between the scanner body and the feeder so that the content of the article can be scanned and having a light source for allowing the sheet-feed scanner to perform not only a reflection-mode scanning but a penetration-mode scanning.

  • Patent number: 5182450
Abstract: A handheld image scanner is provided with a driving motor to permit manual or automatic transverse scanning movement. Stable and proper linear movement of the handheld image scanner is ensured when movement of the handheld image scanner is automatically controlled. The voltage supply to the driving motor can be adjusted so as to obtain the preferred scanning speed for a desired degree of resolution. The handheld image scanner is to be electrically connected to a computer which receives digital scan data from the image scanner. A transistor unit, which is connected in series to the driving motor, is controlled by the computer so as to interrupt current supply to the driving motor when the computer is not ready to receive additional scan data. Scanning is thus stopped and is resumed only when the computer is able to receive more scan data.
