  • Publication number: 20230287771
Abstract: A methodology for integrated pump and well data for managing pump-lifted wells in hydrocarbon fields is provided. Rod pumps are widely applied to various types of wells to provide uplift and may play a dominant role in the flow of hydrocarbon from reservoir to surface. Assess the state of each well and its components (including the associated rod pump) is important for optimal well and reservoir management for fields with artificially lifted wells. As such, a methodology is disclosed that performs machine learning in order to generate a machine-learned model using pump card data and at least one of well data, reservoir data, flowline data, user input data, or data generated from analysis of one or more of the well data, the reservoir data, the flowline data, or the user input data.

  • Patent number: 11755795
Abstract: A method of detecting and mitigating flow instabilities, such as slugging, in hydrocarbon production wells. Real-time production data pertaining to each well is are retrieved. Using the production data, patterns of flow instability are identified therein. A numerical model of transient and thermal multiphase flow in each well is generated. Well test data is are retrieved from a database. The numerical model is calibrated using the well test data. Using the calibrated numerical model, a parametric study is performed to determine how input parameters affect at least one of stability and performance of the wells. Results of the parametric study are queried to determine a type of flow instability and to determine operating conditions to improve performance of the wells. An advisory is provided to a user to change operating conditions of one or more of the wells, to improve stability and/or performance of one or more of the wells.

  • Publication number: 20200273118
Abstract: A method and apparatus for hydrocarbon management includes production surveillance and management, such as obtaining input for a plurality of wells in a field, wherein the input comprises well information collected for at least one of the wells in the field; creating a forecast based on the input; generating a well seriatum for the plurality of wells based on the input and the forecast; and monitoring an implementation of the well seriatum to obtain the input for the plurality of wells for a subsequent iteration of such methods. A method and apparatus includes, for a plurality of iterations, obtaining input for a plurality of wells, including well information collected for at least one well; creating a forecast based on the input; generating a well seriatum based on the input and the forecast; and monitoring an implementation of the well seriatum to obtain the input for a subsequent iteration.

  • Patent number: 10480305
Abstract: A diagnostic apparatus configured to communicate with a well test system comprising a plurality of wells in a field, comprising a receiving component configured to receive a well test data from the well test system, a transmitting component configured to transmit an abnormal well test signal indication, at least one processor configured to communicate with the transmitting component and the receiving component, and a memory coupled to the at least one processor, wherein the memory comprises instructions that when executed by the at least one processor cause the diagnostic apparatus to compare the well test data to one or more well test descriptors stored in memory, correlate the well test data to an abnormal well test result selected based at least in part on the comparison with the one or more well test descriptors stored in the memory, and instruct the transmitting component to transmit an abnormal well test signal indication to a recipient.

  • Publication number: 20130246032
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for generating a development plan for a hydrocarbon asset. A high-fidelity computer model of a hydrocarbon asset is created. A low-fidelity computer model of the hydrocarbon asset is created. The low-fidelity computer model is iterated on to an interim solution. A comparison is generated of the interim solution to a solution obtained from a simulation of the high-fidelity computer model at the variables of the interim solution. The low-fidelity computer model is calibrated based, at least in part, on the comparison. The development plan for the hydrocarbon asset is generated based, at least in part, on a result from the calibrated low-fidelity computer model. The low-fidelity computer model is a mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem with complementarity.
