  • Publication number: 20090164063
Abstract: A vehicle-mountable system is provided for monitoring road surface defects. The system may include a detector to detect a surface defect in a road surface along which a vehicle is traveling. A positioning system may determine an instant location of the vehicle, and a repository may store a location of the surface defect with reference to the instant location. A controller unit may receive and compare the instant location with the location of the surface defect to identify an imminent surface defect encounter. The controller unit may also identify guidance instructions to minimize an effect of the imminent surface defect encounter. Finally, an interface may relay the guidance instructions to the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20070156748
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the field of electronic content management and more particularly to a method, system and computer program for automatically generating electronic content based on a user designed table of contents and a desired final content form. Language identification and automatic machine translation technologies are also used to broaden the sources of information, The method comprises the steps of: extracting from the unstructured data, information related to one or a plurality of preselected topics; consolidating the extracted information in a structured form; localizing the consolidated information according to a selected environment; generating content according to a specified form.

  • Publication number: 20060277249
Abstract: A robotic web browser (120, 122) is disclosed capable of rendering high level program instructions received via an electronic network (150) such as the Internet. Upon rendering the downloaded instructions, the robotic web browser (120, 122) performs three-dimensional movements and plays back video and audio streams.

  • Publication number: 20060135855
Abstract: Method and system for determining a norm to apply to a patient being examined in which at least one physical characteristic of the patient is determined from the examination and guidelines relating thereto are obtained. Information about the patient other than from the examination and established norms for each characteristic are also obtained. An established norm to be applied to the patient is selected based on the determination of the characteristic(s), the guidelines relating to the determination thereof, and the information about the patient other than from the examination. The selection of the norm is performed by an inference engine. The norm is applied to the characteristic, e.g., a measured anatomical feature, to obtain a normal value therefor. The measured anatomical feature is compared to the normal value to determine whether it is indicative of a normal or abnormal condition.

  • Publication number: 20060100738
Abstract: A system is provided for guiding the selection of a value for each of a plurality of parameters needed to perform a procedure with a medical system (100). The system includes a first knowledge base (210) comprising procedures and treatment regimes, a second knowledge base (212) comprising patient information and therapy history, and a third knowledge base (214) comprising clinical guidelines. A domain ontology (220) provides the semantic mapping between information in the first, second, and third knowledge bases. A system configuration database (226) contains physical characteristics pertaining to the medical system and a system characteristics database (228) contains mathematical formulas and algorithms for calibrating the medical system based on the data in the system configuration database.

  • Publication number: 20060026642
Abstract: A method (800) and apparatus (100) are disclosed for predicting a level of interest in an item, such as the size of an audience for a television program, based on the selection history (120) of multiple users and the extent to which the item is recommended (220) to the multiple users. The size of an audience for a given program can be predicted based on, for example, the percentage of users to which the given program is “highly recommended.” A method (900) for calibrating the accuracy of the predictions using measurement data indicating the actual size of the audience is also disclosed. A comparison of the predicted and actual audiences allows a correction factor to be generated to improve subsequent predictions.

  • Patent number: 6829745
Abstract: A method and system are for transforming an XML document structured according to a set of XML grammar rules to at least one XML document structured according to at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules. The system includes a controller capable of executing a set of programmable instructions for retrieving at least one grammar restriction style sheet (GRSS) corresponding to at least one subset of a set of XML grammar rules, where the at least one GRSS includes transformation rules for transforming an XML document to at least one XML document structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules; and a transformation engine for using the transformation rules of each retrieved GRSS for transforming data elements of the XML document to data elements structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules to transform the XML document to the at least one XML document structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules.

  • Publication number: 20030120758
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of and system for recognizing the device format preference for excerpted electronic program guide information for a device on an IHDN network. The device connects to the network, which has an XML data repository. An XSL stylesheet request for excerpted EPG information, including a device format preference, is sent from the device over the IHDN network to an XSLT engine in communication with the XML data repository. The device format preference from the XML data repository on the network is used so that the network can recognize the device. It also further relates to repository, formatting the excerpted EPG information in accordance with the data format preference of the device, and sending the excerpted EPG information by the XSLT engine to the device over the IHDN network.
