  • Patent number: 4259097
Abstract: Arc suppressing gas in a high voltage circuit breaker system is collected, filtered and compressed. The compressed gas is passed through a series of oil and desiccant filters and returned to a high pressure vessel for storage. The oil and desiccant filtering system is combined in a single, separable casing including baffles and a check valve.

    Assignee: Siemens-Allis, Inc.
Inventors: Amrut R. Patel, Donald M. Hansen
  • Patent number: 4208556
Abstract: A heating system within a high pressure gas enclosure which includes a heat emission block surrounded by an insulating tube to form a forced flow convection pump; temperature probes within the high pressure gas enclosure are located so that they will not be influenced by the operation of the heaters.

  • Patent number: 4117289
Abstract: A gas insulated circuit breaker is provided having a plurality of circuit interrupters disposed in a single enclosure. Each interrupter is provided with its own high pressure container located within the sealed enclosure; the high pressure container also operates as an insulating support for the associated interrupter. A single actuating rod passing through the interrupters operates the contacts and blast valves of all the interrupters simultaneously. Service means are provided for the insertion and withdrawal of the interrupters into and out of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4096367
Abstract: A gas insulated circuit breaker arrangement incorporating a modular interrupter structure and having a centrally disposed single opening pull-rod and stopping means for both ends of the pull-rod stroke for controlling the movement of all of the masses of the moving parts. The acceleration spring always opposes the closing force thereby insuring that the pull-rod is in tension. Compression structure is provided to resist the tension force applied by the pull-rod and also to stabilize the interrupter structure.

  • Patent number: 4027125
Abstract: A single pull rod mechanism for actuating the contacts of each phase of a three-phase gas insulated circuit breaker arrangement utilizes acceleration springs only in relation to the second and third phases. Contact parting velocity is measured externally of the breaker thereby providing a check on the breaker operation without breaking the integrity of the gas tight tanks. An eight valve gas system utilizing an integral manifold provides for a complete circulatory arrangement for the high and low pressure gas for all three phases of the circuit breakers increasing the operating reliability of the circuit breaker while simplifying routine and major maintenance procedures.

  • Patent number: 3985987
Abstract: Liquid SF.sub.6 from the high pressure storage tanks within the gas sealed enclosure of a multi-interrupter gas insulated circuit breaker is collected in a tank located externally of the circuit breaker enclosure. A float within the liquid collecting tank operates a micro switch to effect operation of a solenoid actuated valve to pass the liquid SF.sub.6 into the low pressure system of the circuit breaker wherein it again returns to its gaseous state. The collected SF.sub.6 gas in the low pressure system is pumped back into the high pressure system through a compressor.
