In one aspect, a contamination guard can include a proximal collar adapted and configured to engage with a medical port; an elastomeric medial region coupled to the proximal collar; and a distal collar coupled to the proximal collar by the elastomeric medial region; where the elastomeric medial region is adapted and configured to: bias the distal collar to extend at least partially over a distal end of the port when in an unloaded position; and allow the distal collar to resiliently travel proximally when loaded to permit engagement with the distal end of the medical port.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a request initiated from a client device and addressed to a content server device over a network is intercepted at a routing device and tagged using a unique identifier. The tagged request is transmitted over the network to the content server device, which transmits a second request over the network to a tag-related process device configured to use the unique identifier to identify information associated with the client device. The content server device receives the information associated with the client device over the network in response to the second request, and content for delivery to the client device is customized at the content server device based on that information. The customized content is then transmitted over the network to the routing device to configure the routing device to deliver the customized content to the client device in response to the request from the client device.

The exemplary system comprises a media selection optimizer which is configured to determine a directed media component based on a user profile associated, via a device identifier, with a network access device. The media selection optimizer may also utilize access point information, historic information, and access point location-centric information in its determination of the directed media component. The directed media component may then be forward to a media server which provides the corresponding directed media to the user. The directed media may comprise advertisement, coupons, video, music, or any other media which is customizable to the user.

A method includes transmitting a request for authorization to use a public-access network from a computer, including, with the request, identifier information regarding the user. Data including additional information, such as a terms and conditions page, a splash page, relevant information based on user-specific information such as user location, and other like information is then transmitted over the network. The data to be transmitted is determined by processing software as a function of the identifier information regarding the user. A network connection is then opened up for the user of the computer.

In the context of processing a web-bound request associated with a browsing session, the method comprises receiving information associated with a device that initiated a web-bound request, extracting non-personal/device information during MAC/network layer processing, and creating an anonymous GUID based on the non-personal/device information. The GUID may be implemented as an alphanumeric string that is least partially encrypted and inserted in an extensible location of the HTTP data. The non-personal/device information includes one or more of data associated with a device/user, data related to the device, software on the device, or any user/input data that is resident on the device. The global persistence of the GUID is enabled as a function of extraction of non-personal/device data during MAC/network layer processing.
