  • Publication number: 20120265746
Abstract: An approach is provided with a search request including search terms and a user identified as a member of a common group. A search engine receives search results based on the search request and as set of previously searched data corresponding to the group of users by comparing with the search terms. The comparison results in refined search results that are displayed. A further approach is provided with a search request with search terms being compared against group historical search data to identify historical search terms as well as historical search actions. A search action request corresponding to one of the historical actions is received and executed by the information handling system.

  • Patent number: 8131800
Abstract: A server publishes a poll to one or more attendee clients to an electronic conference. The poll permits each attendee to select one of several choices as the vote of the respective attendee. Initially an attendee may have a default choice assigned to him, for example, undecided. The server may show a hypertext page that includes an image or persona icon of the attendee located within a panel that has the current vote that an attendee has chosen or, by default, been assigned.

  • Patent number: 7873516
Abstract: The illustrative embodiments described herein provide a computer implemented method and computer program product for providing context in an electronic text communication. A biometric gathering input device is associated with a sending data processing system. A first set of metrics is identified based on a sender interacting with the biometric gathering input device. A sending communications process on the sending data processing system is calibrated based on the first set of metrics. During the generation of the electronic text communication, a portion of the first set of metrics is identified based on the sender interacting with the biometric gathering input device to form a second set of metrics. The second set of metrics and the electronic text communication are sent from the sending data processing system to a recipient data processing system. The second set of metrics is represented at the recipient data processing system using criteria selected by a recipient of the electronic text communication.

  • Publication number: 20100114673
Abstract: In a collaborative environment wherein persons use a specified system to communicate with one another, and a first person receives a request for information from one or more other persons, embodiments of the invention are used to provide a comprehensive measurement of collaboration that indicates the effectiveness of the first person in collaborating with one or more other persons in the environment. In an embodiment directed to a method, the embodiment includes, for each response made by the first person to one of the received requests, determining the value of at least one metric that represents the value of the response. The method further includes deriving one or more additional measurement values, wherein each additional measurement value represents the value of the participation of the first person in each of one or more additional measurable collaborative activities.
