Abstract: Methods and processes for applying powder coat nail preparations without the need for the use of glues are provided. The process includes the combination of a base color gel and a powder layer, and curing that combination to build up a plurality of layers on the nail. The layered gel/powder coating may be finished with a top gel coat material, followed by a further curing process. The process may also include using a preparation material prior to applying the base gel and powder coatings. The process may also include buffing and finishing the nail prior to and after applying the top gel coat material.

Abstract: Preparations for radiation curable nail coatings, finishing preparations for radiation curable nail coatings, and methods of applying such radiation curable nail coatings and finishing preparations are provided. The radiation curable nail coatings and finishing preparations being designed to improve at least one of the tackiness and gloss of the coated nail without the use of a protective topcoat, and methods of applying the preparation also being provided.

Abstract: A nail enamel composition has a film-forming mixture in a compatible solvent. The film-forming mixture includes nitrocellulose as a major component. The composition further includes a cyanoacrylate mixture comprising cyanoacrylate and a free radical inhibitor, the cyanoacrylate mixture being substantially free of toluene. The invention includes a method of preparation of the composition, and a method of use of the composition.

Abstract: A nail enamel composition has a film-forming mixture and an accelerator mixture. The film-forming mixture includes 9-28% nitrocellulose, by weight, in a suitable solvent. The accelerator mixture includes acetone and/or ethyl acetate. The composition further includes less than 1% cyanoacrylate, by weight. The nail enamel composition is substantially free of graphite fibers.
