  • Publication number: 20210236801
Abstract: A mechanical circulatory support device is provided. The device has a housing containing separate first and second pumps. Each pump having an inlet, an outlet, and an impeller. The device also having a switching mechanism located within the housing and movable from a first position to a second position to divert blood flow within the housing to an inlet of one of the pumps and/or to bypass blood flow relative to one of the pumps within the housing.

  • Publication number: 20210205599
Abstract: A switchable pump device is provided and comprises a pump assembly including first and second pumps each having a separate inlet and outlet, an inner core or shell housing the pump assembly, and an outer shell housing the inner shell and having a pair of openings. The outer shell is interconnected to the inner shell such that the inner shell is movable relative to the outer shell to enable the inlet and outlet of a selected one of the first and second pumps to be aligned with the pair of openings in the outer shell to place the selected one of the first and second pumps in an operational condition while the other of the first and second pumps is positioned in an inoperative condition.

  • Publication number: 20210077791
Abstract: A right ventricle-pulmonary artery conduit provides a first end having a first disc extending radially therefrom and a second disc, proximate to the first disc. The second disc extends radially from the first end. An expandable lumen section extends between the first disc and the second disc. The conduit also has a second end, distal from the first end.

  • Patent number: 10814053
Abstract: A total artificial heart for a mammalian cardiovascular system is provided. The total artificial heart has a pump casing including an outer housing and an integral hollow support shaft extending therethrough. The casing defines a first flow path within the outer housing about an exterior of the hollow support shaft and a separate second flow path extending within the hollow support shaft. An annular impeller is housed within the outer housing of the casing for rotation about the hollow support shaft to provide a centrifugal flow pump in the first flow path, and an axial flow impeller is housed within the hollow support shaft of the casing for forming an axial flow pump in the second flow path.

  • Publication number: 20200188147
Abstract: A shunt prosthesis comprises a synthetic tube having an inner wall defining a fixed inner diameter of the synthetic tube and a layer of hydrogel of a predetermined thickness coating the inner wall of the synthetic tube such that the layer of hydrogel has a fixed outer diameter and such that an inner diameter of the layer of hydrogel defines a diameter of a lumen extending through and defined by the shunt prosthesis. The layer of hydrogel being configured such that the predetermined thickness of the layer of hydrogel is reducable in vivo over a predetmined period of time by controlling the crosslinking density of the layer of hydrogel. A method of controlling flow through a shunt prosthesis is also provided.
