The thermoformed containers may have a mouth having an opening and a flange disposed about the opening, the flange formed from a forming web and having a thickness greater than about 12 mils and up to about 80 mils. The forming web may have a base layer with a skim coating thereon, a portion of the skim coating being on the flange having a skim coating thickness from about 2 mils to about 8 mils. A peelable lid may include a film with an inner lid sealant layer which is sealed to the portion of the skim coating on the flange, the skim coating and inner lid sealant layer each having a common polyolefin majority component, the common polyolefin component being different than a majority component of the base layer.

Abstract: Multi-ply films are provided that include a top layer affixed to a coextruded film. The coextruded film includes at least a first polyamide structural layer, a sealant layer, and a first tie layer that is disposed between the first polyamide structural layer and the sealant layer, in which the coextruded film is substantially free of an adhesive. Packages that include the multi-ply films and methods for sterilization are also provided.

Abstract: A flexible container comprising at least two flexible walls sealed together at one or more seal areas to form a container compartment and a handle portion is provided. The handle portion includes an aperture and an unsealed edge adjacent the aperture and distal the container compartment. The aperture and the unsealed edge are surrounded by a first seal area of the one or more seal areas. A method of making a flexible container is also provided.
