  • Publication number: 20230294106
Abstract: Systems and methods for separating materials and recovery of valuable copper from shredded end-of-life vehicles and appliances are disclosed. Shredded matter, or ASR, is sent through a series of sorters before reaching a system that separates out copper bits. The system utilizes a pair of conveyor belts; one for de-watering and removing most of the plastic and glass particles and a second below the first for separating the copper bits. The second conveyor belt has a belt with a particular tooth pattern and material softness, and is set at a slight uphill incline angle. Water is delivered from the top down the slope and the belt successfully transports mostly just copper up and over a top edge to a collection bin. A cascading series of pairs of conveyors may be used to ensure nearly complete recovery of the copper.

  • Publication number: 20230296918
Abstract: Method for determining a surface model for calculating a surface of an ophthalmic lens from a set of order parameters for the lens or from variables depending on the order parameters. The method includes providing a training data set having order parameter sets; providing a target value of a property of the lens for each of the order parameter sets; providing a surface model with parameters; and determining optimized values for the parameters using the provided target values by optimizing the values for the parameters by minimizing/maximizing a target function for the parameters. The target function for the parameters for each of the order parameter sets has a term which assumes a minimum/maximum when the provided target value coincides with the value of the same property of a lens which is calculatable with the surface model for given values of the parameters for the corresponding order parameter set.

  • Publication number: 20230298170
Abstract: Automated cerebral microbleed detection is performed in extracted T2*-weighted image data, including gradient echo (GRE) image data and susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) image data. The image data is resampled and potential 2D regions of interest (ROI) having a circular or ellipsoidal shape are identified based in part on a respective intensity of associated resampled image pixels. The number of 2D ROIs are reduced by size, edge, and/or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) mask exclusion, and then merged to form 3D ROIs. False positive 3D ROIs are removed and the remaining ROIs stored for review by a trained rater. The embodiments of the present disclosure outperform visual ratings of cerebral microbleeds, reducing the time to visually rate the scans while retaining sensitivity to the microbleeds themselves. These embodiments also exhibit higher sensitivity in longitudinal identification of microbleed locations, and are suited to longitudinal examination of cerebrovascular disease, e.g.
