    Abstract: A user equipment apparatus determines whether a transmission is received from a base station within a time window and skips measurement of a reference signal during a subsequent period, when a transmission is received from the base station within the time window. A base station apparatus configures a UE to monitor one or more reference signals associated with a beam pair link and transmits a first signal in a transmission to the UE. The base station determines whether the transmission is received at the UE within a time window and determines whether to transmit a reference signal, based on whether the transmission is received at the UE within the time window. Upon determining that the transmission was received at the UE, the base station may skip transmission of the reference signal or modify a time, a frequency, a power, and/or a reference signal offset for the reference signal.

    Abstract: A sparse video inference chip is designed to extract spatio-temporal features from videos for action classification and motion tracking. The core is a sparse video inference processor that implements recurrent neural network in three layers of processing. High sparsity is enforced in each layer of processing, reducing the complexity by two orders of magnitude and allowing all multiply-accumulates (MAC) to be replaced by select-accumulates (SA). The design is demonstrated in a 3.98 mm2 40 nm CMOS chip with an Open-RISC processor providing software-defined control and classification.

    Abstract: Intelligent systems are disclosed that respond to user intent and desires based upon activity that may or may not be expressly directed at the intelligent system. In some embodiments, the intelligent system acquires a depth image of a scene surrounding the system. A scene geometry may be extracted from the depth image and elements of the scene may be monitored. In certain embodiments, user activity in the scene is monitored and analyzed to infer user desires or intent with respect to the system. The interpretation of the user's intent as well as the system's response may be affected by the scene geometry surrounding the user and/or the system. In some embodiments, techniques and systems are disclosed for interpreting express user communication, e.g., expressed through hand gesture movements. In some embodiments, such gesture movements may be interpreted based on real-time depth information obtained from, e.g., optical or non-optical type depth sensors.

    Abstract: In one aspect, the invention provides methods of identifying genetic mutations that are associated with ataxic neurological disease. The methods comprise identifying a difference between a nucleic acid sequence of a protein kinase C gamma gene from a mammalian subject exhibiting ataxia and a nucleic acid sequence of a protein kinase C gamma gene from a subject which is not exhibiting ataxia, wherein the difference is a genetic mutation associated with ataxic neurological disease. In another aspect, isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding protein kinase C gamma missense mutations are provided. In another aspect, a method of screening a subject to determine if the subject has a genetic predisposition to develop an ataxic neurological disease is provided. In another aspect, the invention provides kits for determining susceptibility or presence of ataxic neurological disease in a mammalian subject.
