Abstract: The described techniques provide for bin-based rendering where the scene geometry in a frame is subdivided into bins or tiles, and bins are resolved concurrently with the rendering of a next bin. For example, a graphics processing unit (GPU) may process an entire image and sort transactions (e.g., rasterized primitives, such as triangles) into bins. For the rendering of each transaction, a device may identify a memory address of a memory block (e.g., a unit or portion of internal GPU memory (GMEM)) the transaction will be written (i.e., rendered) to. The device may thus prepare the memory block for rendering (e.g., by performing a resolve operation, a clear operation, or an unresolve operation on the memory block), such that the memory block is prepared prior to rendering of the particular transaction. As such, transactions of a bin may be resolved concurrently with rendering of transactions of a next bin.

  • Publication number: 20200269429
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to perform robotic handling of soft products in non-rigid packaging. In various embodiments, sensor data associated with a workspace is received. An action to be performed in the workspace using one or more robotic elements is determined, the action including moving an end effector of one of the robotic elements relatively quickly to a location in proximity to an item to be grasped; actuating a grasping mechanism of the end effector to grasp the item using an amount of force and structures associated with minimized risk of damage to one or both of the item and its packaging; and using sensor data generated subsequent to the item being grasped to ensure the item has been grasped securely. Control communications are sent to the robotic element via the communication interface to cause robotic element to perform the action.

  • Publication number: 20200272433
Abstract: A workflow engine tool is disclosed that enables scientists and engineers to programmatically author workflows (e.g., a directed acyclic graph, “DAG”) with nearly no overhead, using a simpler script that needs almost no modifications for portability among multiple different workflow engines. This permits users to focus on the business logic of the project, avoiding the distracting tedious overhead related to workflow management (such as uploading modules, drawing edges, setting parameters, and other tasks). The workflow engine tool provides an abstraction layer on top of workflow engines, introducing a binding function that converts a programming language function (e.g., a normal python function) into a workflow module definition. The workflow engine tool infers module instances and induces edge dependencies automatically by inferring from a programming language script to build a DAG.

Abstract: An industrial sensor selection system guides the process of selecting a suitable industrial sensor for use in an industrial sensing application based on information provided by the user about the application. The system can allow the user to initially specify a target product or object that is to be detected or measured by the sensing application. Based on the product selection, the sensor selection system allows the user to select from among a set of sensor use cases commonly applied to the selected product. The selection system may also prompt the user to provide additional contextual information about the selected use case. Based on the user's selection of a target product, use case, and any applicable contextual information, the sensor selection system identifies one or more suitable industrial sensors registered within a sensor profile library suitable for use within the user's sensing application.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for improving operational efficiency within a data center by modeling data center performance and predicting power usage efficiency. An example method receives a state input characterizing a current state of a data center. For each data center setting slate, the state input and the data center setting slate are processed through an ensemble of machine learning models. Each machine learning model is configured to receive and process the state input and the data center setting slate to generate an efficiency score that characterizes a predicted resource efficiency of the data center if the data center settings defined by the data center setting slate are adopted t. The method selects, based on the efficiency scores for the data center setting slates, new values for the data center settings.

  • Publication number: 20200271838
Abstract: An optical device can comprise a subassembly with at least two different optical components in a stack. Each optical component can be a wavelength filter, a polarizer, or a waveplate. This stack can be a subassembly which can be manufactured separately from other components like CCD, CMOS, liquid crystal layer, electronic components, and electrodes. Consequently, this subassembly can be manufactured relatively inexpensively and with large variety of configurations. After first manufacturing the subassembly, it can then be attached to other components (e.g. CCD, CMOS, liquid crystal layer, electronic components, electrodes, etc.) to form the completed device (e.g. optical display, radiation detection, radiation measurement, imaging, etc.).
