Abstract: An approach for through-hole component soldering for a PCB, and a resulting PCB assembly, that eliminates protruding solder joints, is provided. The approach comprises back-drilling, from a bottom surface of a PCB, one or more through-holes, wherein each back-drilled through-hole is back-drilled to a depth partially through the PCB and at a diameter that is larger than the diameter of the through hole. Solder paste is applied to the PCB. The components are placed on the PCB, inserting each pin into a corresponding through-hole. The PCB is passed through a solder process, whereby, within each through-hole having a component pin inserted therein, the solder paste is wicked into the through-hole, and forms a solder joint with the respective pin. Each solder joint of a back-drilled through-hole is situated within the through-hole in a manner whereby the solder joint does not protrude beyond the bottom surface of the PCB.

Abstract: A method of joining of a ultra high-strength steel and a non-steel material through tailored softening heat treatment using a laser, may include forming a tempering portion by performing heat treatment on a lower plate formed of ultra high-strength steel using the laser; stacking an upper plate formed of a non-steel material on the lower plate formed of the ultra high-strength steel; disposing a connection member on the upper plate; and applying force to the connection member to cause the connection member to pass through the upper plate and then to be inserted into the tempering portion of the lower plate to combine the upper plate and the lower plate.

Abstract: A method of determining reserved tones to be used for reduction of a peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of a signal includes: randomly selecting carrier indices for the reserved tones and generating a kernel signal based on the randomly selected carrier indices; calculating a comparison reference average value of the kernel signal, comparing the calculated comparison reference average value with a prestored comparison reference average value, and preliminarily determining carrier indices of the reserved tones based on the comparison; randomly re-arranging an order of the preliminarily determined carrier indices of the reserved tones; and calculating the comparison reference average value while changing each of the re-arranged indices of the reserved tones, and finally determining carrier indices for which the calculated comparison reference average value becomes the smallest value as carrier indices of the reserved tones.

Abstract: A broadcast receiver includes a mode determination unit to determine a current operation mode among a plurality of operation modes, a communication interface to transmit the determined current operation mode to a mobile device through interactive communication, and to receive a control command from the mobile device, and a controller to provide a service of the determined current operation mode according to the control command received from the mobile device. Accordingly, a user controls the broadcast receiver through the mobile device according to the operation mode so that user's convenience is improved.

Abstract: An automatic parking system includes a sensor detecting parking areas depending on a size of a subject vehicle and a controller controlling the subject vehicle to be parked in an optimal parking area among the parking areas, in which the sensor may detect the parking areas in consideration of a length and a width of the subject vehicle and detect a spaced distance from surrounding vehicles positioned on a side of the subject vehicle in the optimal parking area and the controller may calculate a moving path between a current position of the subject vehicle and the optimal parking area and compare a predetermined reference distance and the spaced distances to control the subject vehicle.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes detecting one or more objects in an image, generating at least one mask for each of the detected objects, wherein each of the masks is defined by a perimeter, classifying the detected objects, receiving gesture input in relation to the image, determining whether one or more locations associated with the gesture input correlate with any of the masks, and providing feedback regarding the image in response to the gesture input. Each of the masks may include data identifying the corresponding detected object, and the perimeter of each mask may correspond to a perimeter of the corresponding detected object.
