  • Publication number: 20150237595
Abstract: Examples describe systems and methods for iteratively determining a signal strength map for a wireless access point (AP) aligned to position coordinates, positions of a device, and positions of the wireless APs. An example method includes selecting traces and a wireless AP among the traces for which data is indicative of a threshold amount of information to estimate a position of the device and a position of the wireless AP, selecting first characteristics from the traces to remain constant and second characteristics to be variable, and selecting a localization constraint that provides boundaries on the position of the device and the position of the wireless AP. The method also includes performing a simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) optimization of the position of the device and the position of the wireless AP based on the localization constraint with the first characteristics held constant and the second characteristics allowed to vary.

  • Patent number: 9109922
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a Metered-Commodity Consumption Meter (MCCM) utilizing a rotationally occluded optical beam to simultaneously measure flow/consumption and verify operational integrity. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, an existing MCCM may be retrofit by sealably attaching a module containing an optical system which may generate one or more optical beams. Each optical beam may have a defined optical path originating from an optical source and terminating at an optical sensor within the module. In an exemplary embodiment, a Rotational Retrofit Member (RRM) may be attachable to a rotational metering gear responsive to a flow/consumption of the metered commodity. The RRM may have an occluding blade which may partially occlude the optical beams periodically when the RRM rotates. • Patent number: 9112679
Abstract: A system obtains assurance by a content provider that a content control key is securely stored in a remote security module for further secure communications between the content provider and the security module. A security module manufacturer, which has a pre-established trustful relation with the security module, imports a symmetric transport key into the security module. The symmetric transport key is unique to the security module. The content provider shares the symmetric transport key with the security module manufacturer. The content provider exchanging messages with the security module through a security module communication manager in order to get the proof that the security module stores the content control key. At least a portion of the messages exchanged between the content provider and the security module are protected using the symmetric transport key. The symmetric transport key is independent of said content control key.
