    Abstract: An encoder partitions into blocks using a set of block partition modes. The set of block partition modes includes a first partition mode for partitioning a first block, and a second block partition mode for partitioning a second block which is one of blocks obtained after the first block is partitioned. When the number of partitions of the first block partition mode is three, the second block is a center block among the blocks obtained after partitioning the first block, and the partition direction of the second block partition mode is same as the partition direction of the first block partition mode, the second block partition mode indicates that the number of partitions is only three. A parameter for identifying the second block partition mode includes a first flag indicating a horizontal or vertical partition direction, and does not include a second flag indicating the number of partitions.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying conditions in a sample obtain a set of sample sequence reads from the sample. For each respective read, or respective sample contig derived from a respective subset of the set, a corresponding sequence comparison between the respective read or contig and each reference sequence in a set of reference sequences is performed. There is calculated, from these sequence comparisons, a respective probability that the respective read or contig corresponds to a particular reference sequence in the set of reference sequences thereby computing a plurality of probabilities. The presence or an absence of each of the conditions in the sample is identified based at least in part on these probabilities. One condition is identification of a species present in the sample, and the percentage of the genome of this species identified in the reads is provided.

Each of the second lenses has a surface shape of a regular polygon. The second lenses are in surface contact with one another via a surface where sides of the regular polygons are located. Wavefronts formed by the functional sub-elements can be superimposed on a working focal plane of the optical zone to form a uniform diffusion circle that can form a blurred peripheral vision image. The spectacle lens can perform deep modulation for the imaging quality of the image plane on the retina.

    Abstract: The present teaching relates to automated trocar/robot base location determination. An input relates to a surgical operation with a 3D model for an organ including cut points thereon forming a surgical trajectory. A surgical instrument is controlled by a robot to reach the cut points to carry out the surgical operation. Candidate combinations of insertion location for inserting the surgical instrument and base location for deploying the robot are generated. One of the candidate combinations is identified based on evaluation vectors associated therewith. Each evaluation vector provides assessment information on characteristics and spatial relationships of the respective candidate locations. The selected combination of locations is used for the surgical operation.
