  • Patent number: 8481369
Abstract: A no-lead type semiconductor package is formed by attaching a die to a top surface of a flag of a lead frame and then taping a bottom surface of the flag and leads of the lead frame. Die bonding pads are connected to the leads with wires and then the assembly is put in a mold chase and encapsulated with a plastic material. The mold chase has protrusions between the flag and the leads of a lead frame, and between the leads themselves, which causes indentations to be formed between the leads and between the flag and the leads. The method is particularly useful for making quad flat no lead (QFN) devices and power-QFN type devices.

  • Publication number: 20130173894
Abstract: A computing platform may include heterogeneous processors (e.g., CPU and a GPU) to support sharing of virtual functions between such processors. In one embodiment, a CPU side vtable pointer used to access a shared object from the CPU 110 may be used to determine a GPU vtable if a GPU-side table exists. In other embodiment, a shared non-coherent region, which may not maintain data consistency, may be created within the shared virtual memory. The CPU and the GPU side data stored within the shared non-coherent region may have a same address as seen from the CPU and the GPU side. However, the contents of the CPU-side data may be different from that of GPU-side data as shared virtual memory may not maintain coherency during the run-time. In one embodiment, the vptr may be modified to point to the CPU vtable and GPU vtable stored in the shared virtual memory.

  • Publication number: 20130170551
Abstract: A frame-rate converter reduces halo artifacts along edges of moving objects. Halo artifacts occur on interpolated frames where a moving object covers and uncovers pixels along its edges. Motion estimation among three original frames produces hybrid direction motion vectors that are bi-directional for background and objects, but are unidirectional for covered and uncovered regions, since motion vectors with large matching errors are deleted. Covered regions in the interpolated frame are detected as intersecting only a forward but no backward hybrid motion vector. Bi-directional motion estimation from the hybrid motion vectors of two original frames produces refined motion vectors for the interpolated frame. Refined motion vectors in the covered regions are deleted and replaced with hybrid motion vectors from the original frames. Hybrid motion vectors from the original frames are assigned to the critical covered regions rather than using interpolated vectors in the covered regions, reducing halo artifacts.

  • Publication number: 20130172493
Abstract: A process for making dendritic hydrocarbon polymers by reacting an amount of one or more telechelic hydrocarbon polymers with an amount of one or more multifunctional coupling agents under conditions sufficient to produce the dendritic hydrocarbon polymer. The telechelic hydrocarbon polymer is made by ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) in the presence of bi-functional alkene chain terminating agents (CTAs). The dendritic hydrocarbon polymer can be hydrogenated to produce a substantially saturated dendritic hydrocarbon polymer. The dendritic polyethylenes (dPE) can be used as processability additives to provide extensional hardening in low concentrations in various conventional polyethylenes (PEs) such as HDPE, LLDPE and mLLDPE.
