Patent number: 9996726Abstract: Disclosed are systems, apparatus, devices, methods, computer program media and products, and other implementations, including a method that includes capturing an RGB image of a hand of a person, capturing a near infrared (NIR) image of the hand, and determining geometrical features of the hand based on the captured RGB and NIR images. In some embodiments, determining the geometrical features may include determining from extracted image data for the hand one or more values representative of relative spatial features for the hand such as one or more of, for example an angle between a first pair of two fingers in the extracted image data for the hand, and/or a relative distance or length for a second pair of fingers in the extracted image data for the hand. In some embodiments, the method may further include determining identity of the person based on the determined geometrical features of the hand.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2014Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: An M. Chen, Shijia Pan

Publication number: 20150105099Abstract: Disclosed are systems, apparatus, devices, methods, media, products, and other implementations, including a method that includes receiving, at a server, beacon data indicative of a location of an asset tag device, the beacon data determined based on one or more beacon signals received at the asset tag device from one or more transmitters that is each associated with a respective one of group values identifying a corresponding one of a plurality of assigned transmitter groups comprising the respective each of the one or more transmitters. The method also includes determining, at the server, the location of the asset tag device based on the beacon data received at the server from the asset tag device and on the group values respectively associated with the one or more transmitters from which the one or more beacon signals received at the asset tag device were transmitted.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2013Publication date: April 16, 2015Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Xun LUO, An M. Patent number: 8724536Abstract: Embodiments provide power-efficient mechanisms for communicating small amounts of information to receiver devices within a mobile broadcast system. A generic transport mechanism enables transmitting data relevant to upper layer protocols in a lower layer sub-channel so multiple information summary flows can share the same physical layer sub-channel. Data fields are added to the Overhead Information Service (OIS) channel to provide power-efficient logical channels for carrying the summary information. Data from the power-efficient logical channels are provided to an upper protocol layer that receives the information summary flows. Information summary flow may carry a version number of an information flow in the broadcast signal, codes or other information. Receiver devices periodically monitoring the OIS receive the information summary flows.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2010Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Qiang Gao, Ralph Akram Gholmieh, An M.
