Abstract: A method for detecting a change in fly-height comprises measuring a baseline position error signal, measuring a position error signal at later time, and comparing the measured change in PES to a predetermined value. If the measured change in PES is greater than the predetermined value, it is determined that a decrease in fly-height has occurred. Depending on whether the disk drive has a head cleaner or whether the PES signal changes occur only at the certain diameter of the disk, a head cleaning is initiated to correct the fly-height change. If no head cleaning is necessary, a general error signal may be generated to indicate potential drive failure.

Abstract: Processes and apparatuses analyze an image of maze pattern in order to extract bits encoded in the maze pattern. Grid lines of a maze pattern are determined. Directions for effective pixels of associated bars are estimated and are grouped into clusters. Lines are estimated for selected effective pixels of a selected cluster that is associated with a first principal direction. Grid lines of another cluster are determined, where the other cluster is associated with a second principal direction that is perpendicular with the first principal direction. Estimated lines are pruned based on slope variation analysis, grouped based on a distance analysis, and a best fit line is selected from each group. Affine parameters are determined from best fit lines. The correct orientation of a maze pattern is obtained by determining a type of missing corner of the maze pattern. Bits are extracted from the image of maze pattern by processing gray level values of the associated maze pattern cells.

Abstract: A cooling device is integrated with a runner of an umbrella. The umbrella includes an upright central post along which the runner is movable. A crown is mounted to an upper end of the central post. A plurality of ribs is pivoted to and radially extending from the crown and each rib is linked to and driven by a stretcher having opposite ends pivoted to the runner and the rib respectively. A canopy is attached to and supported by the ribs whereby when the runner moves upward/downward along the central post, the canopy is selectively opened/closed. The cooling device includes a casing fit over and movable along the central post. The cooling device defines an interior space forming a water container containing an amount of water and accommodating a mist generator receiving water from the water container and generating mist. Tubes convey the mist to outlet nozzles that are formed in the casing to direct the mist to a space under the canopy for cooling purposes.

Abstract: An image sensing device is disclosed having a die formed with an array of photosensing sites and a structure of optical material having infrared absorbing characteristics formed over the photosensing sites. An embodiment is disclosed in which the structure of optical material having infrared absorbing characteristics is formed as an array of microlenses for directing visible image light onto the photosensing sites and at the same time filtering out infrared wavelengths that interfere with image capture. Alternatively, the structure may be designed to filter out other ranges of wavelengths outside of the visible spectrum.

Abstract: A pick up cap for an LGA connector assembly, the LGA connector has an insulative housing for receiving an electronic package such as CPU therein, a plurality of electrical contacts received in the housing. A clip disposed on the housing to press the CPU upon the contacts, and a pick up cap mounted on the clip, the pick up has extending portion, and the extending portion has an uplift which defines a concave, the concave can supply a sufficiently big operating space for operator's fingertip to detach the pick up cap away from the connector.

Abstract: A dynamic assignment of the spreading codes of a user in a CDMA system is based on multipath channel conditions of that user. The spreading codes are assigned such that multipath signal energies are coherently integrated at the antenna of the receiver to ensure that the multipath components are summed constructively and therefore that a signal gain is obtained. The method is applicable to any CDMA system which uses spreading codes over a multipath channel. A specific algorithm for selecting the codes based on channel parameters and auto-correlation functions of the spreading codes is proposed.

Abstract: A bimetal layer manufacturing method includes the procedure of: forming a first dielectric layer on the surface of a semiconductor substrate which has a first metal layer (conductive layer) of a selected pattern formed thereon; forming a SOG layer on the surface of the first dielectric layer; forming a second dielectric layer; forming required via holes on the foregoing layers until reaching the first metal layer; forming a linear layer from a dielectrics material through PECVD; removing unnecessary linear layer from selected locations through an anisotropic plasma etching process; finally forming a second metal layer on a selected surface of the linear layer where MIM capacitors to be formed, and forming connection plugs in the via openings without generating via hole poison.

The first connector includes a housing (21) and a plurality of male contacts (22) and female contacts (23) received therein. A plurality of parallel slots (2101) is defined in the mating surface, and therefore a partition wall (2102) is formed between two adjacent slots. Abstract: This specification discloses a data decoding method and the corresponding system. By improving the execution order of the error detection process during data decoding and using a descramble hardware processing structure, the method and the system can effectively reduce the number of times of memory access during the data decoding. Therefore, the disclosed method and system achieve the goal of reducing the clock needed for memory operations.

A plurality of protrusions (324) is formed on the top surface for protect the terminals from being accidental damaged, A common supporting surface (326) is formed cooperatively by the protrusions, above the contacting portion in a direction perpendicular to the top surface. This can protect the contacting portion of the terminal from being collided. As a result reliable electrical connection between the package and contacts of the land grid array connector is secured.

Abstract: A driving monitor device has an image-capture module and a storage unit. The image-capture module is set on a rear view mirror inside an automobile. The image-capture module has at least two image-capturing lenses. An electrical sensor is located behind each image-capturing lens. The image-capture module can take wide-angle images of the front side, left hand side and right hand side, outside the automobile. The storage unit is connected to the image-capture module to store the image. Therefore, when a traffic accident occurs, the image stored in the storage unit can be used as evidence.

The objects have hierarchy attributes, connectivity attributes, and display attributes that describe a plurality of modules. The hierarchy attributes define parent-child relationships between modules, the connectivity attributes define input-output connections between modules, and the display attributes define a layout of the modules for viewing. Each of the objects has an associated method for generating a design specification in a selected format. When the program is executed, the design specification is generated from the set of objects. Depending on the capabilities of the available tools, the modules and logic elements are displayed in accordance with the display attributes either from the object-oriented program or from the design specification.

Abstract: An ATM network includes a plurality of ATMs. Each ATM can determine the amount of currency in its currency cassettes. The network can track the amount of currency therein. The information can be provided in real time, enabling a network operator to provide efficient currency management.
