Abstract: A frequency selection device comprises an oscillator, which comprises a resonator mass which is connected by a spring arrangement to a substrate, and a piezoresistive element for controlling oscillation of the resonator mass, which comprises a piezoresistive element connected to the resonator mass. A current is driven through the piezoresistive element to control oscillation of the resonator mass. An input is provided for coupling a signal from which a desired frequency range is to be selected, to the resonator mass; and a detector is used for detecting a signal amplified by the oscillator.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, devices and methodologies for debonding wafers from carrier plates. In certain wafer processing operations, it is desirable to temporarily mount a wafer on a carrier plate for support and ease of handling. Such a mounting can be achieved by bonding the wafer and the carrier plate with an adhesive. Once such operations are completed, the wafer needs to be debonded from the carrier plate. Such a debonding process can be achieved by applying a suction force to the wafer-carrier plate assembly. Various debonding systems, devices and methodologies, and related features, are disclosed.

Abstract: An embodiment is a method and apparatus to provide an optimization of commands in a flash device. Commands sent by at least a top-level processor to a flash device are buffered in a buffer. The buffered commands are analyzed for an optimizing condition. The commands are aggregated if the optimizing condition is met. The aggregated commands are sent to the flash device.

Abstract: An embodiment is a technique to classify a flash device. Test data to a flash device are accessed in unscramble and scramble modes under a test mode. Error correcting code (ECC) results are recorded on the test data for the unscramble and scramble modes. A device quality figure is calculated based on the ECC results for the unscramble and scramble modes. The flash device is classified using the device quality figure.

Abstract: A method for managing storage and access to data files stored in a storage delivery network comprising a plurality of geographically distributed storage nodes, the method including: receiving a file request from a user, wherein the user is associated with a service level agreement (SLA) containing one or more policies governing handling of file requests from the user; determining if the SLA dictates redirecting the file request to a predetermined storage node; if the SLA dictates redirecting the file request to a predetermined storage node, redirecting the file request to the predetermined storage node; otherwise, identifying all storage nodes from the plurality of geographically distributed storage nodes that are not too busy by determining whether a number of current access requests being served by each storage node exceeds a predetermined threshold value; identifying a nearest storage node from among the not too busy storage nodes; and redirecting the user request to the nearest storage node.

Abstract: A system, a method and a computer program product for determining an amount of an electric power to be generated in an electric power system and determining a total cost for generating the amount of electric power while satisfying at least one contingency constraint and one or more customer request. The system creates an optimization problem for calculating amount of the electric power to be generated and a total cost for generating the calculated amount of the electric power while meeting the at least one contingency constraint. The system runs the optimization problem in real-time. The system outputs, from the optimization problem, an output specifying the calculated amount of the electric power and the total cost to generate the calculated amount of the electric power.

Abstract: A locking system provides multiple lockable latching mechanisms that are collectively operable and lockable from a central actuation mechanism. Each latching mechanism can be positioned and actuated independent of the positioning of others of the latching mechanisms. In particular, the latching mechanisms need not be aligned with one another. The system uses flexible connectors between the central actuation mechanism and the respective latching mechanisms. The flexible connectors can have different respective lengths.

Abstract: The invention provides MEMS oscillator designs in which the thermal actuation and piezoresistive detection signals are separated. A first approach splits the frequency of the loop into two distinct components, an actuation frequency and a detection frequency. A second approach modifies the design of the MEMS resonator such that the actuation signal follows a different path through the MEMS resonator than the detection signal.

Abstract: Methods and a computer program product for deriving a super-resolution image of a physical object, the super-resolution image characterized by a resolution exceeding a “camera imaging resolution” associated with each of a sequence of lower-resolution images of the physical object. The sequence of images of the physical object is obtained at a plurality of relative displacements with respect to the object. An offset is passively associated with each of the plurality of images to derive effective camera movement, allowing for calculation of a kinetic point spread function on the basis of the effective camera movement. The image sequence is deconvolved, using the kinetic point spread function, to solve for a high-resolution image. Various applications such as portable cameras and infrared imaging for energy conservation are described.

Abstract: A disk drive is described with a single servo master timer that is used to control timing critical signals such as servo gate, SAM windows, channel power save, PREAMP power save and so on. The master timer is adjusted to compensate for SAM detection errors (early, late or missed) and provides improved servo timing quality. In an embodiment the adjustable master timer can be selectably clocked by either the DLC/DSW clock or the system clock.

The mounting bracket includes a rail attachment section rigidly attached to the rail and a lamp attachment section. The lamp is attached to the lamp attachment section. The lamp is aimed to shine light beneath the mounting bracket and the rail toward the vehicle cargo area.

Abstract: A cigarette and cigarette paper have a plurality of multilayer bands formed by printing a highly viscous aqueous film-forming composition. After heating the composition to lower its viscosity, the bands are applied to the cigarette paper by gravure printing the composition. The composition is quenched and gelatinized by contact with the cool cigarette paper reducing absorption of water by the paper and reducing wrinkling, cockling, and waviness. Multiple gravure printed layers may be used to form the bands.

Abstract: In order to provide efficient relaying of multicast data in a wireless network, the wireless network comprises a base station and a relay node. The relay node is configured for transmissions on the basis of a radio frame including one or more subframes for unicast transmission and one or more subframes for multicast transmission. In a multicast-only operating mode of the relay node, the base station transmits multicast data to the relay node in one or more subframes which are selectable from the one or more subframes for unicast transmission and the one or more subframes for multicast transmission. The relay node receives the multicast data as transmitted by the base station and transmits the received multicast data in one or more of the subframes for multicast transmission.

Abstract: A disk drive is disclosed comprising a head actuated over a disk comprising a plurality of non-circular servo tracks for defining a plurality of substantially circular tracks. Each non-circular servo track comprises a plurality of servo sectors defining a plurality of servo wedges. The head is positioned at a first offset relative to a first circular track and a relationship of servo bursts for each servo wedge is first generated. The head is positioned at a second offset relative to the first circular track and the relationship of the servo bursts for each servo wedge is second generated. For each servo wedge, a selection is made between the first generated relationship at the first offset and the second generated relationship at the second offset, and the servo bursts at the selected offset are evaluated to generate a track squeeze indicator.
