  • Patent number: 7418261
Abstract: A status reporting system for components used in a mobile platform includes a fault manager within the mobile platform for assigning a state indicator to each component. Each state indicator indicates the operational current state of the component. A management system external to the mobile platform, in one example being a ground based management system, is in communication with the mobile platform via a wireless communication link. A component summary including the state indicators of all the components is periodically transmitted from the mobile platform as an information packet, via the wireless link, to the management system for review. The management system can thus remotely monitor the operational status of various important components on a periodic basis, for example every five minutes. This saves significant bandwidth over that which would be required if a continuous wireless link was to be employed to remotely monitor various components on the mobile platform.

  • Publication number: 20080197451
Abstract: Formation of an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection device having a desired breakdown voltage (BV) is disclosed. The breakdown voltage (BV) of the device can be set, at least in part, by varying the degree to which a surface junction between two doped areas is covered. This junction can be covered in one embodiment by a dielectric material and/or a semiconductor material. Moreover, a variable breakdown voltage can be established by concurrently forming, in a single process flow, multiple diodes that have different breakdown voltages, where the diodes are also formed concurrently with circuitry that is to be protected. To generate the variable or different breakdown voltages, respective edges of isolation regions can be extended to cover more of the surface junctions of different diodes. In this manner, a first diode can have a first breakdown voltage (BV1), a second diode can have a second breakdown voltage (BV2), a third diode can have a third breakdown voltage (BV3), etc.

  • Publication number: 20080183667
Abstract: The embodiments of the invention provide a method, program storage device, etc. for automated and dynamic management of query views for database workloads. More specifically, a method begins by executing queries, which includes accessing a set of data tables for each of the queries. During the executing of the queries, the method accesses a required data table from a cache if the required data table is present in the cache and creates the required data table if the required data table is not present in the cache. The accessing of the required data table from the cache has a lower processing cost than accessing the required data table from a base table. Also during the executing of the queries, created data tables are stored in the cache, wherein one or more of the created data tables are removed from the cache when the cache becomes full.
