  • Publication number: 20250036870
Abstract: A method for controlling the behavior of Large Language Models (LLMs) based on the principles of active inference that are integral to human natural language behavior and are thereby manifest implicitly by LLMs. These principles are similar to the actor component of control systems that achieve optimal behavior when conditions of the system's fit to the environment are known and feedforward control is best, compared to more uncertain conditions when close feedback from external criteria is needed to guide behavior optimally by the external evidence. The structured prompting of LLMs then achieves the single optimal response for both the generative creativity of the LLM response and the accuracy and control of the response through alternating, and then integrating, the contextual prompts according to these principles.

  • Publication number: 20250039925
Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to adjustment of contention window (CW) for listen before talk (LBT). A device determines a target size of a contention window for listen before talk at least in part based on at least one of a first metric and a second metric. The first metric indicates a level of intra-system activity of one of the plurality of systems. The second metric indicates a level of inter-system activity of the plurality of systems. The at least one of first and second metrics are determined by the device based on one or more messages in a set of resources shared by a plurality of systems. This solution enables the device to adjust the LBT by determining the target size of the contention window. By doing so, the device may determine an appropriate size of the contention window even when HARQ feedback is not available. In this way, a system may be able to coexist fairly with other systems in unlicensed spectrum.

  • Patent number: 12212754
Abstract: The coding of a media signal is rendered more efficient by describing the media signal using a sequence of samples and sequentially encoding this sequence by selecting, for a current sample, a set of quantization levels out of a plurality of quantization level sets depending on indices encoded into the data stream for previous samples of the sequence of samples, quantizing the current sample onto one level of the set of quantization levels, and encoding a quantization index to the one level for the current sample into the data stream. In other words, scalar quantization of the individual samples of the sequence of samples is used, but it is rendered dependent on quantization indices encoded into the data stream for previous samples of the sequence of samples.

  • Patent number: 12210403
Abstract: In some implementations, an optimization system may obtain health information identifying different measures of health of an asset. The health information identifies end of life information regarding an end of life curve of the asset and an effective age of the asset. The optimization system may determine, based on the health information, a hazard curve for the asset. The hazard curve indicates a predicted failure rate of the asset over a period of time. The optimization system may provide the hazard curve and the effective age of the asset as inputs to an optimization model. The optimization system may use the optimization model to determine a particular time for replacing the asset, wherein the particular time is determined based on the hazard curve and the effective age. The optimization system may cause the asset to be replaced at the particular time.

  • Publication number: 20250030812
Abstract: Visual content captured by an image capture device may be stabilized. A target depicted within visual content of a video may be identified manually by a user or automatically by a computing device. Dolly zoom visual content may be generated by using a viewing window to crop the visual content. The size and/or the position of the viewing window within the visual content may change based on size and/or the position of the target within the visual content. The combination of video stabilization, target tracking, and cropping of the visual content may produce the dolly zoom effect. The dolly zoom effect may compensate for the movement of the image capture device and work on video captured by an image capture device without optical zoom.

  • Patent number: 12203832
Abstract: A microfluidic viscometer measures the viscosity of a microliter-volume fluid sample using a microfluidic chip having a microchannel with a high aspect ratio (˜10), allowing the microflow therein to be approximated as a rectangular slit flow. The microfluidic chip is fabricated by stacking rigid sheet materials that can be laser cut to specified shapes and sizes. The microchannel, rendered smooth and hydrophobic by a repellant coating, provides a straight flow path for the sample to approach flow equilibrium as it moves through. By applying corrections related to the visual bias from the camera and the capillary pressure difference at the air-liquid interface, the viscosity of the fluid sample can be calculated based on differential pressure data, sample length, velocity, volumetric flow rate, and contact angle from captured video, and the channel dimension, given that the sample has reached a flow equilibrium condition.
