    Abstract: A measurement system with improved data transmission capabilities to enable efficient data transfers in a radio frequency difficult environment. According to the invention two different data transmission protocols are used, each transmitting within its own radio frequency band. The first data transmission protocol is an unsynchronized network where nodes can actively poke a concentrator to get attention. When a node has the concentrator's attention, the concentrator will then switch the node over to a second data transmission protocol which is a time division multiplexing network at a different frequency band. The TDM network is able to selectively and efficiently transfer both small and larger data packets. The concentrator is able to have both networks active at the same time.

    Abstract: A power converter can be implemented with a boosted-output inverter, which integrates the functionality of a voltage converter (e.g., boost converter) and a voltage inverter. In particular, a boosted-output inverter includes a primary tank inductor coupled in series with a secondary tank inductor at a central node. The boosted-output inverter also includes two voltage-controlled switches that respectively define a charging phase and a discharging phase of the primary tank inductor. While the primary tank inductor is charging, the secondary tank inductor is inverted to ground. In this manner, current though the secondary tank inductor alternates at a voltage boosted by the fly-back voltage of the primary tank inductor exhibited when the primary tank inductor transitions from the charging mode to the discharging mode. In many cases, the secondary tank inductor is a transmit coil of a transmitter of a wireless power transfer system.

    Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for tracking movement of an object, such as a hand. Speakers of a device to be controlled transmit frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) audio signals. These signals are reflected by the object and received by the microphones at the controlled device. The received and transmitted audio signals are mixed. A fast Fourier transform (FFT) is then performed on the mixed audio signals. One or more peak frequencies in the frequency domain of the FFT mixed audio signals are selected and used to estimate the distance between the object and the speakers of the controlled device. Furthermore, the velocity of the object is estimated. The coordinates of the object are then computed using the estimated distance between the object and the speakers and microphones of the controlled device and the estimated velocity of the object.
