  • Patent number: 7266642
Abstract: The present invention proposes a novel cache residence prediction mechanism that predicts whether requested data of a cache miss can be found in another cache. The memory controller can use the prediction result to determine if it should immediately initiate a memory access, or initiate no memory access until a cache snoop response shows that the requested data cannot be supplied by a cache. The cache residence prediction mechanism can be implemented at the cache side, the memory side, or both. A cache-side prediction mechanism can predict that data requested by a cache miss can be found in another cache if the cache miss address matches an address tag of a cache line in the requesting cache and the cache line is in an invalid state. A memory-side prediction mechanism can make effective prediction based on observed memory and cache operations that are recorded in a prediction table.

  • Patent number: 7266099
Abstract: A method for hand-off of a data session in a server. Data is received from a data source. At least a portion of the data is transmitted to an electronic device located in a first location. Notification is received that the electronic device is moving toward a second location. A first message is transmitted to a second server notifying the second server that the electronic device is moving toward the second location, wherein the second server is located proximate to the second location. A second message is received from the second server that the second server is prepared to communicate with the electronic device. The server then stops transmission of the data.

  • Patent number: 7266132
Abstract: Described herein are data transmission systems and methods that employ flexible memory usage techniques. The techniques allocate memory to include a plurality of block pools, where each block pool includes a set of blocks having a memory size common to the block pool. The number of block pools and common memory size for each may be determined according to the current transmission demands for the bit streams and channels being serviced. A processor for the network device then allocates data from multiple bit streams into a block in one of the block pools based on the memory requirements for the incoming data. The number of blocks may also be varied based on changing transmission demands.

  • Publication number: 20070202700
Abstract: Methods for forming anisotropic features for high aspect ratio application in etch process are provided in the present invention. The methods described herein advantageously facilitates profile and dimension control of features with high aspect ratios through a sidewall passivation management scheme. In one embodiment, sidewall passivations are managed by selectively forming an oxidation passivation layer on the sidewall and/or bottom of etched layers. In another embodiment, sidewall passivation is managed by periodically clearing the overburden redeposition layer to preserve an even and uniform passivation layer thereon. The even and uniform passivation allows the features with high aspect ratios to be incrementally etched in a manner that pertains a desired depth and vertical profile of critical dimension in both high and low feature density regions on the substrate without generating defects and/or overetching the underneath layers.
