  • Publication number: 20050114495
Abstract: A method and mechanism for communicating an alarm in a computer network is provided. An alarm system enables a MSP to accurately determine which device within a computer network is associated to a received alarm. Initially, an event is detected on a device on the computer network. An alarm is propagated to an alarm identification component. The alarm identification component augmenting the alarm with identification information to result in creating an augmented alarm. Thereafter, the augmented alarm is transmitted to a network operations center for the computer network. The network operations center may process the alarm using the additional information in the alarm. Accordingly, using the augmented alarm, the MSP is able to accurately determine the identity of the originating device, regardless of whether the customer site of the originating device uses NAT or a private IP addressing scheme.

  • Publication number: 20050114748
Abstract: Variable modulation within combined LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) coding and modulation coding systems. A novel approach is presented for variable modulation encoding of LDPC coded symbols. In addition, LDPC encoding, that generates an LDPC variable code rate signal, may also be performed as well. The encoding can generate an LDPC variable code rate and/or modulation signal whose code rate and/or modulation may vary as frequently as on a symbol by symbol basis. Some embodiments employ a common constellation shape for all of the symbols of the signal sequence, yet individual symbols may be mapped according different mappings of the commonly shaped constellation; such an embodiment may be viewed as generating a LDPC variable mapped signal. In general, any one or more of the code rate, constellation shape, or mapping of the individual symbols of a signal sequence may vary as frequently as on a symbol by symbol basis.

  • Publication number: 20050111714
Abstract: A method of identifying a patient from digital medical images includes providing a first digital image volume of an organ of a patient and a second digital image volume of the same organ, segmenting each slice of the first image volume and calculating a cross-sectional area of the organ in each slice to form a first area profile, segmenting each slice of the second image volume and calculating a cross-sectional area of the organ in each slice to form a second area profile, and comparing the first area profile with the second area profile to determine a correlation value for the two profiles. Based on the correlation value between the first area profile and the second area profile, it is determined whether the first digital image volume of the organ and the second digital image volume of the same organ came from the same patient.

  • Publication number: 20050113016
Abstract: An airflow guide structure and manufacture thereof is used to allow components of an airflow guide are cut by molds in a factory to form thin plates in each of which has a plurality of bendable lines, and transported into a mainframe assembly plant to store therein. Each component of the airflow guide is folded into a three-dimensional type at a production line when a mainframe wants to be assembled. Because each component of the airflow guide is a thin plate and lighter in weight, it can be stacked together with another component before a three-dimensional cover body is assembled. Therefore, the space is saved and the transportation and storage are more convenient.

  • Patent number: 6896781
Abstract: A highly accurate, long life, low cost gas sensor is disclosed, particularly useful for measuring carbon monoxide and other toxic gases in an environment. The gas sensor has a first, sensing electrode and a second, counting electrode. Positioned between the first and second electrodes is an ion conducting, solid electrolyte membrane. In response to the presence of a toxic gas introduced to the first electrode, an electric signal is produced between the first electrode and the second electrode. The electric signal changes in response to changes in the concentration of the toxic gas. Detection circuitry measures the electric signal to determine the concentration of the toxic gas. An electrically conductive, hydrophobic top membrane electrically connects the first electrode to the detection circuitry while preventing liquid water from contacting the first electrode. An electrically conductive, hydrophobic bottom membrane electrically connects the second electrode to the detection circuitry.

  • Patent number: 6897855
Abstract: A tiled display device is formed from display tiles having picture element (pixel) positions defined up to the edge of the tiles. Each pixel position has an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) active area which occupies approximately 25 percent of the pixel area. Each tile includes a memory which stores display data, and pixel driving circuitry which controls the scanning and illumination of the pixels on the tile. The pixel driving circuitry is located on the back side of the tile and connections to pixel electrodes on the front side of the tile are made by vias which pass through portions of selected ones of the pixel areas which are not occupied by the active pixel material. The tiles are to formed in two parts, an electronics section and a display section. Each of these parts includes connecting pads which cover several pixel positions. Each connecting pad makes an electrical connection to only one row electrode or column electrode.

  • Publication number: 20050103884
Abstract: A velocity-profile modifying device is located between a heat component and an air pouring apparatus. The air pouring apparatus pours the air into the heat component via an air moving track. The velocity-profile modifying device is set at the air moving track and is used for modifying a first velocity-profile of airflow by the air pouring apparatus to a second velocity-profile and further for making the air distribute evenly toward the heat component. By providing the velocity profile modifying device, a better distribution of the airflow toward the heat component and a stable temperature status of the heat component can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20050107060
Abstract: An inter-resonator coupling scheme for a filter is disclosed. An inter-resonator coupling member is located between successive resonators in the filter. By adjusting the length and/or the proximity of the inter-resonator coupling member relative to the adjacent resonators, the ratio of energy transferred from resonator to resonator (via the inter-resonator coupling member) may be increased and/or decreased. By increasing the ratio of energy transferred from resonator to resonator, the bandwidth of the filter is increased and is made relatively insensitive to tuning which may occur via manipulation of field disturbances introduced by tuning tips. The inter-resonator coupling member is made of a conductive or superconductive material and contains at least three sections. The first section runs substantially parallel to an edge of the first resonator that is not profoundly influenced by the source of field disturbance.

  • Publication number: 20050104226
Abstract: A wafer level chip scale packaging structure and the method of fabricating the same are disclosed to form a sacrificial layer below the bump using a normal semiconductor process. The bump is used to connect the signals between the Si wafer and the PCB. The interface between the sacrificial layer and the PCB is the weakest part in the whole structure. When the stress applied to the bump is overloaded, the interface between the sacrificial layer and the PCB will crash to remove the stress generated by different thermal expansion coefficients of the Si wafer and the PCB. The sacrificial layer would help avoid the crash occurring to the bump to protect the electrical conduction between the Si wafer and the PCB.
