  • Patent number: 12270878
Abstract: Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) reconstruction of brain-state-specific images from slow, anatomical MRI image data. In an embodiment, for each of a plurality of stimulation sequences, an fMRI apparatus is controlled to capture a set of whole-brain image data of the same region of a subject's brain according to the stimulation sequence. Each stimulation sequence is configured to induce each of a plurality of brain states in a different sequence than any of the other stimulation sequences, and each set of whole-brain image data comprises a plurality of sub-acquisition segments. For each set of whole-brain image data, each sub-acquisition segment in the set is associated with one of the brain states. Then, for each of the brain states, a whole-brain image is reconstructed from a subset of the sub-acquisition segments, in each captured set of whole-brain image data, that are associated with the brain state.

  • Patent number: 5875282
Abstract: A fluid warming device for warming blood and other fluids prior to introduction into a patient. The counterflow fluid bags utilize a flat counter flow pathway which provides high flow performance and ensuring uniform, gradual and energy efficient blood warming. The warming device contains a pair of opposed, identical heater elements. The guide rails of the bag align the counter flow passageway for the fluid so that the bag is spaced and located precisely between the heater elements. The heater is provided with a receptive slot down the middle, in a horizontal plane, with two different sized guide slots, one on each side of the receptive slot. A pair of guide rails, integrated into the sides of the bag, are parallel to one another providing sufficient rigidity for easy insertion of the bag, and being sized to allow easy insertion in only the correct orientation. The blood warmer preferably incorporates a microprocessor for precise control of the electric current provided to the heater.
