    Abstract: There is disclosed a computer-implemented method for lossy image or video compression, transmission and decoding, the method including the steps of: (i) receiving an input image at a first computer system; (ii) encoding the input image using a first trained neural network, using the first computer system, to produce a latent representation; (iii) quantizing the latent representation using the first computer system to produce a quantized latent; (iv) entropy encoding the quantized latent into a bitstream, using the first computer system; (v) transmitting the bitstream to a second computer system; (vi) the second computer system entropy decoding the bitstream to produce the quantized latent; (vii) the second computer system using a second trained neural network to produce an output image from the quantized latent, wherein the output image is an approximation of the input image.     Abstract: A ventilation control method for a laundry device to solve problems related to bacteria after clothes are washed in a laundry device, due to the moist interior of a drum assembly thereof. When an air intake fan is started, the present current of the air intake fan is acquired; if the present current of the air intake fan reaches a pre-set current value, water is injected into a water intake pipe to trigger a siphoning apparatus to discharge water from the water intake pipe, and a drum assembly is then ventilated; and if the present current of the air intake fan does not reach the pre-set current value, the drum assembly is directly ventilated. After clothes are washed, residual water inside a drum assembly can be air-dried, preventing breeding of bacteria and generation, and clothes are not subjected to secondary pollution during subsequent washes, thereby improving the user experience.

    Abstract: The present disclosure is directed at automatically opening hinged components of computing devices. One of the computing devices and a hinged component may include an electrical winding or coil while the other may include a magnet. When current is applied to the electrical winding (e.g., in a direction opposite of the North/South direction of the magnets' magnetic field), the electrical winding may generate a magnetic field opposite that repels the magnet's magnetic field. The magnetic repulsion may cause the hinged component to separate from the rest of the computing device, thereby opening the hinged component. When the current is removed from the electrical winding, the electrical winding may no longer generate a magnetic field, enabling the hinged component to be closed.
