Abstract: Provided are signal modifying compositions for medical imaging comprising a carrier and two or more signal modifying agents specific for two or more imaging modalities. The compositions are characterized by retention efficiency, with respect to the signal modifying agents, which enables prolonged contrast imaging without significant depletion of the signal modifying agents from the carrier. The carriers of the present invention are lipid based or polymer based, the physico-chemical properties of which can be modified to entrap or chelate different signal modifying agents and mixtures thereof and to target specific organs or tumors or tissues within a mammal.

Abstract: Click-through log mining is described. Raw search click-through log data is processed to generate ordered query keywords, utilizing an algorithm to expand user-submitted keywords to include high frequency user queries, managing the keywords for a keyword expansion file, analyzing the algorithm performance on a bidding criteria, and identifying related phrases with similar page-click behaviors for advertisements.

Abstract: An interface (4) between a digital device (6) for transmitting and/or receiving a digital stream and a computer (2) comprises a digital stream transmitter/receiver (transceiver) (20), a computer bus interface (12) and a data converter (14, 16 & 18). The digital transceiver transmits digitally streamed content and/or receives digitally streamed content to/from the digital device. The computer bus interface receives/provides data to/from a computer bus of a computer for use by the computer and/or as provided by the computer. The data converter converts data received by the digital stream receiver into data useable by the computer from the computer bus and/or converts data received by the computer bus interface into digitally streamed data for transmission by the digital stream transmitter.

Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing diverse topic phrase extraction are disclosed. According to one implementation, multiple word candidate phrases are extracted from a corpus and weighed. One or more documents are re-weighed to identify less obvious candidate topics using latent semantic analysis (LSA). Phrase diversification is then used to remove redundancy and select informative and distinct topic phrases.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a ranking function by regression using relative preference data. A number of iterations are performed in which to following is performed. The current ranking function is used to compare pairs of elements. The comparisons are checked against actual preference data to determine for which pairs the ranking function mis-predicted (contradicting pairs). A regression function is fitted to a set of training data that is based on contradicting pairs and a target value for each element. The target value for each element may be based on the value that the ranking function predicted for the other element in the pair. The ranking function for the next iteration is determined based, at least in part, on the regression function. The final ranking function is established based on the regression functions. For example, the final ranking function may be based on a linear combination of regression functions.

Abstract: Improved methods and pharmaceutical compositions are provided herein for mobilizing hematopoietic progenitor cells from bone marrow into peripheral blood, comprising the administration of an effective amount of an inhibitor of GTPases, such as Rac1 and Rac2 alone or in combination. Specifically, methods are disclosed for mobilizing hematopoietic stem cells into a subject's peripheral blood. In particular, embodiments of the method involve inhibition of both Rac1 and Rac2 GTPases to increase the numbers of hematopoietic stem cells into a subject's peripheral blood of a subject. The subject's blood can be processed and used to repopulate the destroyed lymphohematopoietic system of a recipient and may in the future be utilized to repair a variety of non-hematopoietic tissues.

Abstract: A data overlay is built as a data structure on a logical space defined by a distributed hash table (DHT) in a peer-to-peer network. The data overlay includes a tree having tree nodes that each have a zone mapped to a corresponding DHT node in the logical space of the DHT. The logical space of the DHT is mapped to machines, each of which corresponds to one or more of more of the tree node zones. The tree nodes are hierarchically situated by tree node zone size and my available resource so that tasks are performed by machines in the peer-to-peer network according to the respective abilities of the machines to supply the tasks' demand. The tree, which self-organizes and self-heals on the same scale as the underlying DHT, is used together and disseminate information from and to the DHT nodes using the hierarchy of the tree nodes.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and a method for performing handover in a Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) mobile communication system supporting broadband wireless access. The system includes a plurality of Mobile Stations (MSs); at least one distributed antenna having the ability to perform simultaneous communications with the plurality of MSs; and a base station connected to the at least one distributed antenna through optical fibers for performing communications and handovers with the multiple MSs.

Abstract: A system and a method for forming a cell by using distributed antennas in a World interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) mobile communication system supporting a broadband wireless access communication system. A virtual cell is formed with a specific Mobile Station (MS) as a central part of the virtual cell by using distributed antennas, which improves the transmission capacity and the performance of an overall network system without changing the structure of a backbone network and the interface of the overall network system. The system includes, multiple MSes; distributed antennas for perform simultaneous communications with at least one MS among the multiple MSes, and for forming one virtual cell by communicating with the multiple MSes; and a Base Station (BS), which is typically connected to the distributed antennas through optical fibers, for communicating with the MSes.

Each friend device may optionally add data to the request until all the requested data is added. The request with the retrieved data is returned to the device that initiated the request.

Abstract: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a diverse and abundant class of ˜22-nucleotide (nt) endogenous regulatory RNAs that play a variety of roles in animal cells by controlling gene expression at the posttranscriptional level. Increased miR-181a expression in mature T cells is shown to cause a marked increase in T cell activation and augments T cell sensitivity to peptide antigens. Moreover, T cell blasts with higher miR-181a expression become reactive to antagonists. The effects of miR-181a on antigen discrimination are in part achieved by dampening the expression of multiple negative regulators in the T cell receptor (TCR) signaling pathway, including PTPN22 and the dual specificity phosphatases DUSP5 and DUSP6. This results in a reduction in the TCR signaling threshold, thus quantitatively and qualitatively enhancing T cell sensitivity to antigens.

Abstract: Methods for multiplex amplification of a plurality of targets of distinct sequence from a complex mixture are disclosed. In one aspect targets are circularized using a single circularization probe that is complementary to two regions in the target that flank a region to be amplified. The targets may hybridize to the circularization probe so that 5? or 3? flaps are generated and methods for removing flaps and circularizing the resulting product are disclosed. In another aspect targets are hybridized to dU probes so that 5? and 3? flaps are generated. The flaps are cleaved using 5? or 3? flap endonucleases or 3? to 5? exonucleases. The target sequences are then ligated to common primers, the dU probes digested and the ligated targets amplified.
