  • Publication number: 20090262706
Abstract: A method, system, and device for converting session control signaling are provided. The method includes at least one of the following steps: a first adaptation unit converts a session control signaling message of a circuit switched (CS) session leg into a session control signaling message of an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) session leg; or the first adaptation unit converts a session control signaling message of an IMS session leg into a session control signaling message of a CS session leg. In embodiments of the present invention, an adaptation unit intercepts a CS signaling message after an inter-mobile switching center (MSC) handover, and converts CS signaling messages to IMS signaling messages and vice versa, so that the IMS domain may continue to control a session after the inter-MSC handover.

  • Publication number: 20090265760
Abstract: A component-oriented web mashup system and method for communicating between component-oriented Web gadgets to facilitate secure Web mashups. Embodiments of the system and method redefine the traditional definition of gadget to mean a Web component having a verifiable controlled communication channel (a CompoWeb gadget). A CompoWeb gadget is created and defined using new HTML tags and global script objects and functions that extend the functions of the browser. CompoWeb gadget content is treated as a component that is isolated from other gadgets and frames by a browser, and only those allowed access can view data and code therein. Called functions of a CompoWeb gadget are run in the callee's environment instead of the caller's environment. This adds security, because all the requesting CompoWeb gadget receives is the run result. Embodiments of the system and method also include delayed binding of CompoWeb gadgets, such that binding is performed at run time.

  • Publication number: 20090262458
Abstract: A DFH (Dynamic Flying Height) type slider ABS design has significantly improved DFH efficiency and a decreased sensitivity of flying height to both ambient conditions and disk surface variations. This is a result of embedding the read/write head and heater in a micro-pad having a very small surface area. The micro-pad is surrounded by a wing-like structure that projects from a central rail in the ABS. The micro-pad is separated from the central rail by a surrounding trench whose depth can be varied to tune the DFH efficiency. The small surface area of the micro-pad reduces the air pressure at the read/write head and the projecting wings and adjacent topology help to direct the airflow around the micro-pad.

  • Patent number: 7606273
Abstract: An efficient and low-noise solid-state laser is optically pumped by one or more laser diode(s) driven by RF modulated current. The solid-state laser operation is stabilized by the pump source stable in both spectrum and intensity, in conjunction with automatic power control wherein the feedback loop accurately reflects the true drift in the output power. Moreover, the pump efficiency is optimized and the optical noise is minimized by adjusting the diode operation temperature such that the pump wavelength coincides with the absorption peak of the gain medium. By internally or externally modulating the amplitude of the drive current, the pump diode(s) operate in pulsed mode with controllable shape, width, repetition rate, and pulse-to-pulse intervals, which enables essentially constant optical energy produced from each pulse of the solid-state laser in high repetition rates with variable pulse-to-pulse intervals.

  • Patent number: 7605665
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed to substantially reduce phase noise introduced in fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) through feedback modulation. A fractional frequency divider is introduced in the feedback path of the PLL to generate a true fractional division factor with finite fractional steps to increase the resolution of the PLL by a factor equal to the inverse of the finite step size in the fractional frequency divider. Increasing the resolution of the PLL reduces phase noise. The fractional frequency divider uses the true fractional division factor to divide the frequency of a single output of a multi-phased voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) by the fractional division factor to match the frequency of the divided feedback signal to frequency a reference signal.

  • Patent number: 7606773
Abstract: A genetic algorithms rostering system (20) with a workload and shift setting optimizer (22), a GA rostering engine (24) and a storage medium (26) is described. The GA rostering engine (24) dynamically shifts one or more shift lists of an initial shift list matrix based upon a shifting factor associated with each of the shift lists. Thereafter, the GA rostering engine (24) obtains an intermediate shift list matrix that is then fine-tuned by swapping individual shifts for each of the shift lists in the intermediate shift list matrix. A swapping factor for fine-tuning is associated with each of the shift lists and indicates a gene group with two or more genes. Each of the genes in the gene group is associated with an individual shift. Output of the rostering system (20) are rosters (28) represented in a matrix form.
