  • Publication number: 20050095813
Abstract: A process comprises reducing the thickness of a substrate carrying a plurality of devices, with at least certain of the devices having a micro-machined mesh. A carrier wafer is attached to the back side of the substrate and the fabrication of the devices is completed from the top side of the substrate. Thereafter the plurality of devices is singulated. Various alternative embodiments are disclosed which demonstrate that the thinning of the wafer may occur at different times during the process of fabricating the MEMS devices such as before the mesh is formed or after the mesh is formed. Additionally, the use of carrier wafers to support the thinned wafer enables process steps to be carried out on the side opposite from the side having the carrier wafer. The various alternative embodiments demonstrate that the side carrying the carrier wafer can be varied throughout the process.

  • Publication number: 20050093030
Abstract: In producing complementary sets of metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) field effect transistors, including nMOS and pMOS transistors), carrier mobility is enhanced or otherwise regulated through the use of layering various stressed films over either the nMOS or pMOS transistor (or both), depending on the properties of the layer and isolating stressed layers from each other and other structures with an additional layer in a selected location. Thus both types of transistors on a single chip or substrate can achieve an enhanced carrier mobility, thereby improving the performance of CMOS devices and integrated circuits.

  • Publication number: 20050097170
Abstract: A community-based “green list” (CGL) message filter for mail service providers. The CGL filtering enables trusted messages to be delivered directly into a user's inbox folder and other messages to be delivered to other folders associated with the user. The CGL filtering indicates which messages are sent from those message addresses listed as friends in the user's personal address book. Also, the scope of CGL filtering includes more than those message addresses that the user interacts with directly (one degree of separation). For example, the CGL filtering also evaluates message addresses that are connected more remotely to the user through other nodes (users) in the online community that are located multiple degrees of separation away from the user.

  • Publication number: 20050095814
Abstract: A process of fabricating a plurality of devices containing MEMS membranes (sealed micro-machined meshes) may begin with certain process steps being performed from the top side of a substrate carrying the plurality of devices. A carrier wafer is attached to the top side of the substrate. The thickness of the substrate is reduced using any known technique. The fabrication process is continued by performing various process steps from the back side of the substrate. Alternatively, a process of fabricating a plurality of devices containing MEMS membranes may begin with attaching a carrier wafer to a top side of a substrate carrying the plurality of devices. The thickness of the substrate is reduced. Process steps are then performed from the back side of the substrate. A carrier wafer is attached to the back side of the substrate and the carrier wafer on the top side of the substrate is removed. Thereafter, process steps are performed from the top side of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6889062
Abstract: A wireless terminal (and associated method) for communicating pictures via a wireless communication system. The pictures can be either maintained in the wireless terminal in galleries, each gallery including typically up to eight pictures, or the pictures can be stand-alone pictures. When maintained in galleries and stored in non-volatile memory of the wireless terminal, in an electronic folder, the pictures are termed clip-art pictures. The invention allows sending an entire gallery at a time as, among other formats, a single so-called Graphical Messaging System (GMS) picture (18×72 pixels). The invention also allows sending individual clip-art pictures in a message including text, actually in-line with the text of the message or indicating where in the text the clip-art pictures would appear in a wireless terminal adapted to the invention. In addition, the invention provides a picture editor allowing a user to create or edit either a clip-art or a standalone picture.

  • Patent number: 6887719
Abstract: A process that advantageously forms MRAM cells without the application of ion beam milling processes. Unlike conventional processes that rely on ion beam milling processes to remove materials from a magnetoresistive sandwich from areas other than areas that will later form MRAM cell bodies, this process forms a layer of photoresist over areas other than those areas that correspond to MRAM cell bodies. The photoresist is lifted off after the deposition of a magnetoresistive sandwich that forms the MRAM cell bodies, thereby safely removing the magnetoresistive sandwich from undesired areas while maintaining the magnetoresistive sandwich in the areas corresponding to MRAM cell bodies.

  • Publication number: 20050089053
Abstract: A method and a Virtual Queuing Support System (VQSS) for optimizing end-user service for clients waiting for a service request to be responded and who are registered in various virtual queues of the VQSS. End-users register in a virtual queue of the VQSS, which monitors the status of the queues and the status of the service agents. When a parameter such as the number of users in a queue or the expected waiting time exceeds a pre-set threshold, the VQSS reassigns end-users from the problematic queue, and/or re-assigns service agents from other queues to the problematic queue. The VQSS comprises a memory storing the virtual queues, and a processor for managing the virtual queues.
