  • Patent number: 11735719
Abstract: A reduced graphene oxide/manganese(IV) oxide nanocomposite is provided. This nanocomposite comprises reduced graphene oxide flakes and manganese oxide nanoparticles distributed on the surface of the flakes. Electrodes comprising this nanocomposite are also provided. Embodiments of such electrodes displayed broad voltage windows. A method for producing the nanocomposites as well as other nanocomposites is also provided. The method comprises the step of electrochemically exfoliating graphite in an exfoliation electrolyte comprising an intercalant and a precursor which is an oxometallate, a polyoxometalate, a thiometallate, or metal salt together with an acid.

  • Publication number: 20090220842
Abstract: A fuel cell includes: (a) an anode; (b) a cathode; and (c) a polymer electrolyte membrane including at least one polyolefin, the polyolefin being obtained by grafting side chains containing proton conductive functional groups onto a polyolefin having a crystallinity of 41% to 48%, preferably 42% to 46%. According to one preferred embodiment, the fuel cell is a direct methanol fuel cell.

  • Publication number: 20080145732
Abstract: A proton exchange membrane fuel cell includes at least one membrane-electrode assembly including an electrolyte membrane based on a fluorine free polymer grafted with side chains containing proton conductive functional groups, and interposed between an anode and a cathode, the anode including a catalytic layer including a catalyst and a fluorinated ionomer. The catalytic layer has a fluorine/catalyst ratio that increases in a direction from the electrolyte membrane to an outer surface of the anode.
