  • Patent number: 9098902
Abstract: A system and method for encoding video and reducing video artifacts in the encoded video are provided. The system and method of the present disclosure provide for enabling a user to simply select a preset (e.g., a group of encoding or re-encoding parameters) to fix or provide a starting point to fix video artifacts present in an encoded video. Furthermore, the system and method of present disclosure flag, classify, and organize potential post-encoding related video quality issues, e.g., video artifacts such as banding, dark noise, etc., that are detected during the encoding process. By identifying and categorizing video artifacts, the system and method make the fixing of these video artifacts easier and more precise thereby increasing quality, saving time, and performance.

  • Patent number: 8891020
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for categorizing pre-processing video information derived from video content prior to processing the video content. The apparatus includes a categorizer for identifying at least one of scenes and shots in the video content that have a likelihood of causing errors during subsequent processing based on at least the pre-processing video information. Moreover, the categorizer is for categorizing the identified scenes and shots into one or more respective categories based on at least the pre-processing video information.

  • Patent number: 8189657
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed towards a system and method for time optimized encoding. Time optimized encoding maximizes the usage of the multiple encode nodes or clusters by parallelizing time-intensive encoding with minimal or no sacrifice of encoding quality. Thereby, reducing the time required for accomplishing the time intensive encoding and increasing the efficient throughput of multiple encodes through the system.

  • Publication number: 20100260270
Abstract: A system and method for encoding video with versioning to allow for control, organization of scenes/shots and presentation of re-encoding history are provided. The system and method of the present disclosure provide for generating a first version of encoded video based on a first encoding parameter, generating at least one second version of encoded video based on a second re-encoding parameter, generating comparison data based on the first and the at least one second version for encoded video, and displaying the first and the at least one second version of encoded video and said comparison data. The comparison data is at least one of a listing of video artifacts, a video file size, encoding parameters and metadata generated from the first and the at least one second version of encoded video.

  • Publication number: 20090100339
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for visualizing, manipulating and encoding video stream data via a hierarchical format in a graphical user interface where at least one segment reduced image represents a sequential portion of a video stream, each segment having at least one scene, at least one scene reduced image representing a scene in each segment, each scene having at least one frame, and displaying at least one frame reduced image, each frame reduced image representing a frame in the scene. The system and method further include displaying buttons allowing a user to encode at least a portion of the video stream. In this system, at least one segment is an active segment, and the scenes displayed are part of the active segment. Additionally, one scene is an active scene, and the frames displayed are part of the active scene.
