Patent number: 12244500Abstract: A distributed computing system is provided, including a source computing device implementing a source hypervisor executing a virtual machine, a source-side router coupled to the source hypervisor, a destination computing device implementing a destination hypervisor, and a destination-side router coupled to the destination hypervisor. The source hypervisor is connected to the destination hypervisor through a network. During a migration of the virtual machine from the source hypervisor to the destination hypervisor, the source-side router duplicates packets ingressing into the source-side router. The duplicated packets include a first set of packets and a second set of packets, where the first set of packets is routed to the virtual machine through the source hypervisor on the network, and the second set of packets is routed to the virtual machine through the destination hypervisor on the network.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2023Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Kenyon James Hensler, Rupesh Bhagaban Patro, Aishwarya Srinivasa Raghavan, Shivjit Satish Patil, Rangaprasad Narasimhan, Anand Ramakrishna

Patent number: 7024008Abstract: A method of enhancing the audio quality in a reproduction medium having unknown characteristics. With this method a predetermined finite set of single frequency tones are generated and these tones are then passed through the reproduction medium to generate an output signal, which in turn is passed through a set of sub-band filters. Each of the sub-band filters pass at least a frequency corresponding to one of the tones in the set of tones. The characteristics of the reproduction medium is then estimated as a result of passing the output signal through the set of sub-band filters. Based on the estimated characteristics of the reproduction medium, a set of sub-band inverse filters are constructed. Finally before passing the audio signal through the reproduction medium the signal is passed through the set of inverse filters to improve the quality of the audio signal after it passes through the reproduction medium.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2001Date of Patent: April 4, 2006Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Anand Narasimhan, Ganesh Nachiappa Ramaswamy

Publication number: 20040225524Abstract: A system can be used to enforce policy driven interactions among any set of objects. The availability of objects within a system is monitored and policies applicable to the objects are enforced. Objects within the system such as users, devices, processes and information assets are assigned unique identifiers and their presence is periodically reported to a server by client agents running in the devices. The availability of an object for a specific interaction may be determined through analysis of the presence of the object in the system and the presence and attributes of objects required to facilitate the interaction. Policies are associated with each of the objects. When an attempted interaction of objects is detected by a client agent, a license governing the attempted interaction is dynamically generated in accordance with policies associated with each of the objects participating in the interaction.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2004Publication date: November 11, 2004Applicant: InnerPresence Networks, Inc.Inventors: Anand Narasimhan, Doron Myersdorf

Publication number: 20040039594Abstract: Policies that govern the rights of system assets with respect to other system assets are enforced through dynamic generation of a license at a policy engine in response to a request by an asset to exercise a right with respect to another asset. The system assets are objects within the system to which behavior-regulating policies are applied. Typical types of system assets include users, devices, information files, and processes, and many other types of assets may also be defined. Upon receiving a request to exercise a right, the policy engine obtains predefined policies that are relevant to the request, and obtains factual information for evaluating the current state of transient conditions upon which rights are contingent as expressed in the policies. Through evaluation of the policies, the policy engine generates a license that expresses rights or prohibitions of the requesting asset with respect to another specified asset.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2003Publication date: February 26, 2004Applicant: InnerPresence Networks, Inc.Inventors: Anand Narasimhan, Doron Myersdorf, Srikanth Ranganathan, Ray Dickenson

Patent number: 6597688Abstract: A system for supporting a message delivery service, a method for supporting such a service and a machine accessible medium containing program data for implementing such a system. A number of processing servers are coupled to communicate with a number of outbound resources and a database server over an internal packet-switched data network. The database server contains account information on customers of the service. Request messages received from a customer over an external packet-switched data network are stored in a queue of a processing server. A router filter obtains a request message from the queue and validates a customer associated with the request message, after accessing the database server. A determination is made as to which of the multiple outbound resources to assign the request message. Each of these resources is capable of converting an input request message into a format capable of being received by a fax machine over a telephone network.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1998Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: j2 Global Communications, Inc.Inventors: Anand Narasimhan, Yaacov Shemesh, Amit Kumar
