    Abstract: This disclosure provides compositions, films, labels, structures and methods that may include a substrate having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side comprises a skin layer comprising at least 50 wt. % of high-density polyethylene. Further, the compositions may include a coating on the skin layer, wherein the coating comprises a topcoat and a primer, wherein the topcoat consists of: (i) at least 50 wt. % high-density polyethylene and one or more polyethylene polymers in water; (ii) wax, silicone or combination thereof; and (iii) optionally additives, whereupon imaging the composition by a thermal print head at a temperature of 300° C. or less results in no or negligible solvent-penetrability beneath the skin layer.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides compositions and methods for an oriented film that may include a base film having a first side and a second side. Further, the oriented film may include a metallized layer on the first side and a print-receptive coating on the second side. Further still, oriented film may include one or more coatings on a side of the metallized layer that faces away from the base film. The oriented film may also have a distinctness of image decrease of ?15% in a machine direction and ?30% in a transverse direction for the metallized layer when measured atop the print-receptive coating.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, systems and devices that may be used to measure, calculate, and orient a device such as a drill bit in a downhole environment. To that end, disclosed are fiber optic gyroscopes, wherein the fiber optic gyroscopes comprise elliptical fiber optic cable coils in a mutually orthogonal arrangement that is tilted relative to a length of a supporting shaft, e.g., tube. Light travels in opposite directions within each of the elliptical fiber optic cable coils, and, subsequently, sensors detect differences in time for each light path of the light that traveled in opposite directions within each one of the elliptical fiber optic cable coils. The elliptical nature of the fiber optic cable coils minimizes the cross-sectional area of the mutually orthogonal arrangement, and thereby makes it well-suited for use in downhole environments where space is at a premium. This disclosure also may provide an inertial measurement unit.

    Abstract: A clear packaging film is disclosed that is free of polyvinylidene chloride while retaining excellent machinability, barrier properties, and resistance to visual deterioration such as puckering or dimpling. The film comprises a protective barrier layer comprising ethylene vinyl alcohol, polyvinyl alcohol, polyamides, or combinations thereof, disposed atop a biaxially oriented polypropylene core. This barrier layer is top-coated with an acrylic coating to enhance the machinability, sealability, and appearance of the film.

Further, the multilayered film includes a sealing layer comprising a primer and a sealing coating, wherein the primer has a primer coating weight from 0.05 to 0.5 g/m2 and is located between the first side of the core and a first side of the sealing coating, wherein the sealing coating has a sealing coating weight from 0.5 to 20.0 g/m2, wherein the multilayered film has a seal strength of at least 1 kg/in at 120° C. In various embodiments, the films showed outstanding seal strength, hot tack for both clear and white films over a broad temperature range, seal integrity under the Skye test, low blocking, and other desirable performance metrics.
