  • Publication number: 20220037012
Abstract: Various techniques for facilitating server-initiated transmission of messages to medical devices are described herein. For example, a hospital server may transmit strictly regulated clinical requests or messages to medical devices to facilitate clinical operations performed on the medical devices. In addition, the hospital server may transmit requests or messages that are unregulated (or regulated to a lesser degree) to the medical devices to facilitate operations unrelated to the clinical operations of the medical devices. By allowing both regulated and unregulated communications and by allowing both medical-device-initiated and server-initiated uses of the input and output devices provided on the medical devices, faster response times and increased efficiency can be achieved in a hospital environment.
